My handicap has gone out from 14.3 to 16.9 in a month, very frustrating . I feel that I can play to a 12 at my best but am probably a year away from that level.
Played qualifying round for our club champs yesterday, playing to my handicap until a fucking 12 on a short par 4 . 3 OB's and one into the hazard. Get one more chance next week.
I use Srixon z star driver ,3&5 wood .have got Ben hogan irons. I use Srixon Qstar balls 4 dozen for $99 at the golf warehouse .
It's a frustrating game as I am in my 2nd year of playing and have really levelled out.

  • Movie review thread...

I was skeptical after seeing the preview but saw a more in-depth show on it last night and it does look pretty amazing. What I'm wondering about is it if humans are able to to develop the technology to travel such vast distances and turn a guy into an alien how come they don't have the tech to make him walk again?

They do , you will have to watch the movie. My suggestion definitely watch the 3D version.

  • Movie review thread...

Just watched Avatar in 3D . Amazing , must see movie. I reckon it will make James Cameron even more squillions. It has a basic plot (just like Star wars, Superman etc) but is so well done ,only the most cynical (cue to fern reviewers) will diss it,
And that sounds weird FBB - opening up a couple of notches or closing down - like doing up your belt!!
Yeah thats the difference between gastric Banding which is easily adjustable- just like tightening the belt as you said) and the gastric bypass.
Willpower(not the driver) is definately the best option for losing weight and you have got to be pretty sure you cant do it that way before you coff up the dosh for the op.

  • The Fern's heaviest bloke - Doing something about it,

I got the band opened up a couple of notches in late Nov, Food goes down alot easier and i've just had 4 weeks off work , sitting on my ass watching cricket and drinking beer.
Enough excuses my current weight is 118 kg. When i get back from a 14 day tour of the South Island with my Aussie Winter Swimming mates in the middle of march i will probably get the band closed up again (5-10 minute procedure) . The last thing i want is to put on weight again and i'll just have to cop the downside. Its been sensational not throwing up for a couple of months tho.
Mainlander - Its good to see you've made the decision not to have the Op. You have to be %100 certain that you want it done, and what you have to give up on. The brain and the stomach have got to be on the same wavelength.
I'm in the top 10% of people who have had the op, results wise. And i lived on potato chips and chocolate for 4 months at one stage and lost weight doing it. If you base your health completely on your weight this is the way to go.
I'm heaps lighter and fitter but i ate better and healthier before the op . xzxscratch_one-s_head

!st post in 5 months current weight 113 kg , body fat down to 16.5%. All is well . I've started back on the tools again (carpentry) so have dropped a lot of bodyfat in the last 2 months and are finally starting to tone up . I am getting the band opened up next week as i need to eat more as i now do a hard days work.
It will be interesting to see if i put on weight again . a few kg won't bother me but i will be keeping a close eye on things.
Got a new tattoo to celebrate the fact that i have biceps again <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

  • I'M DOING THE AUCKLAND MARATHON!!!!
  • F fatbaldbloke

Good on ya , its a big effort just to hit the road. I have no intention of ever hitting the road again. Even in my fit days i did just enough preseason to get through and never ran after the 1st game. I despise running and admire anyone who does it.

Sorry about the delay in posting, but i am quite over the weight loss thing. You lose 65kg and everyone wants to be your mate <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />. Seriously every time i go out , people i only half know want to talk about how much i've lost and how i look now. It was great for the 1 st 3 months but it does get a bit stale.
Current weight 117kg , body fat 21%. Have now reached my goal weight and am training twice a week with personal trainer, should do more , i know.
Confession time. when i started this journey 14 months ago i was actually 180.8kg (not 177kg that i put in my 1st post) but i wasn't brave enough to put this figure in writing.
There is no way that i could have lost the weight without the gastric banding operation and i have completely forgotten the $15,000 it cost, but there is a down side that is not overly explained before it all starts, The positives are easy to see , here are some negatives:
1. It has halved (even quartered) my alcolhol consumption and i do miss not being able to drink more than 4 beers.
2. It has turned me into a virtual vegetarian as meat is almost impossible for me to get down and stay down
3. Most of the time i dont have big stores of energy as i dont eat enough good food to run the machine and i am quite tired regulary.
4. i am a potatoe chip (pringles) addict as they crumble easy and go down well, biscuits are the same
5. bread is a no-no
5. i have no clothes - recently fitted 36" jeans (tightish but got them done up) 2xl is my shirt size
Will post a photo in the next couple of days
Thanks for the support , i might not have mentioned it before but it does help
Cheers Fbb

current weight 123kg. Body fat down to 22%. 2 .5 kg lost in 3 weeks about average body fat had a good drop. My extension on the house is nearly finished so will get back to Gym asap.

  • The Fern's heaviest bloke - Doing something about it,

Sorry for taking so long to post . Weighed myself at the clinic this morning , only do it every couple of weeks. Current weight is 125.5 KG. i HAVE NOW LOST OVER 50 KG IN TOTAL. Quite happy.
I haven't gone to the gym for 2 weeks and must start again ASAP. The reason i stopped was that i feinted after a tough workout and cut my leg on a table,- there was plenty of blood- it was probably due to dehydration and low blood pressure combined. The lady at the desk (It was 6.30 am) freaked out and told me to get checked out before returning. Had heaps of tests done but they didn't find anything.
My blood pressure is down to 100/70 and the doc said it only has to fall a little before i feel dizzy.
As i don't eat very much and don't feel hungry it is hard to get enough fuel into the body to train hard. I can go a day without eating and not even notice I'm hungry , the missus has to remind me to eat.
While not going to gym, i have been busting my ass every night to 9pm working on an extension to the house and have dug plenty of drains and trenches for plumbing and electric and have done all the building work with hammer and nails and a hand saw ( i love doing things the old school way) so am getting plenty of exercise

Bart's right my exercise bike has 2 towels and a pair of swimming goggles hanging off it. Its a Schwinn magnetic with 12 programmes and it is yours for the cost of freight from Sydney <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />.
i had the best intentions like every other exercise bike owner but i much prefer to go for a walk or swim.
