!st post in 5 months current weight 113 kg , body fat down to 16.5%. All is well . I've started back on the tools again (carpentry) so have dropped a lot of bodyfat in the last 2 months and are finally starting to tone up . I am getting the band opened up next week as i need to eat more as i now do a hard days work.
It will be interesting to see if i put on weight again . a few kg won't bother me but i will be keeping a close eye on things.
Got a new tattoo to celebrate the fact that i have biceps again <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Good luck with the op. Good to see the guns are back too. I reckon a days manual labour is a pretty rewarding experience. Sitting at a desk is physically debilitating in the long term. It turns us into shrunken soft vegetables that have been left out of the fridge for a few weeks.

For sure. I miss the good old days of labouring over the holidays, talking shit, lifting things and smashing things up. No better forearm workout than being on the end of a Kanga hammer all day !
What a fucking fantastic effort FBB.

You're right in that losing the weight will slow right down now - and it's more a case of tidying up what's left. Now you are on the exercise trail, take advantage of it and try to fit in walking in places that are really scenic if they are close by. It's amazing how rewarding a hike to a viewing point can be and you don't even realise that it was also exercise!

How many years do you reckon you've added to your life in the last 6 months?
Yeah so people keep telling me, trouble is I've never seen a view that didn't look better in a photo. xzxnegative
And any type of walk I regard as exercise so am against,,, I'm a real expert at getting parking places right outside were I want to go.

Well done FBB, very impressed, like you I looked into that stomach band thingy, went to a Mickey the Comedian talk and worked with a lady that had had it done.

Trouble is I didn't think it was really going to suit me.

You've gone past my current weight so being the fattest or 2nd fattest no longer is an appropriate title and having a possible skinnier prop Cyril is a scary thought for me.

It's also pleasing to know there are others out there who are around (or at least were around) my weight.

I got the band opened up a couple of notches in late Nov, Food goes down alot easier and i've just had 4 weeks off work , sitting on my ass watching cricket and drinking beer.
Enough excuses my current weight is 118 kg. When i get back from a 14 day tour of the South Island with my Aussie Winter Swimming mates in the middle of march i will probably get the band closed up again (5-10 minute procedure) . The last thing i want is to put on weight again and i'll just have to cop the downside. Its been sensational not throwing up for a couple of months tho.
Mainlander - Its good to see you've made the decision not to have the Op. You have to be %100 certain that you want it done, and what you have to give up on. The brain and the stomach have got to be on the same wavelength.
I'm in the top 10% of people who have had the op, results wise. And i lived on potato chips and chocolate for 4 months at one stage and lost weight doing it. If you base your health completely on your weight this is the way to go.
I'm heaps lighter and fitter but i ate better and healthier before the op . xzxscratch_one-s_head

A mate of mines and Red Beards has just gone from 130+ to sub 100 by stopping eating shit.

His motivation? His brother in law got a $16,000 operation (stomach banding or that sort of thing) to lose the weight and he was "you don't need to do that shit", and he set out to prove it.

Weird the sorts of things that motivate you though eh? I'm guessing that he doesn't like the bro in law also.

And his height would be all of 5' 8" or 9" I'm picking, not a tall blokes anyways!

And that sounds weird FBB - opening up a couple of notches or closing down - like doing up your belt!!

Yeah thats the difference between gastric Banding which is easily adjustable- just like tightening the belt as you said) and the gastric bypass.
Willpower(not the driver) is definately the best option for losing weight and you have got to be pretty sure you cant do it that way before you coff up the dosh for the op.

Yeah, seems a great idea and certainly worked well for that comedian (Mikey) that was selling it, but even the doc admitted he was also using a personal trainer and working out while the woman I was working with wasn't experiencing the weight losses she'd expected/hoped for but also wasn't doing the exercise the Comedian was. Seemed to me the giving up of certain foods wasn't worth it also considering my problem was a little different, Not so much eating alot but more starving myself and then eating (alot). I mainly only eat one meal a day and would tend to make it a big one. My body was in hibernation mode storing food for the starvation periods the next day. So the solution is simple, eat regularly/properly and exercise, trouble is I hate healthy food and breakfasts (except for an occasional bacon and eggs feast) and I'm not overly fust with exercise either.
That's what I'm going to aim for, I have no idea what I weigh, I refuse to stand on scales and have since I was a teenager and 16 stone. But wife is pretty good at estimating weight so the 130+ is about right and the sub 100 would be nice.

so I've started eating better... doing the light and easy... saves me having to decide what to eat and buy as it's delivered and the transporting home was always a problem on the bike. Eating breakfast/morning tea/lunch and afternoon tea is hard though, seems the more I eat the more hungry I get. Also lite and easy has too many salads... I hate salads and their dinners while OK are a bit small and too many of them include cauliflower or spouts with them I detest both (and most other vegetables).

Only have the lite an easy when in Brissy and go back to the wife’s cooking when back in Canberra but she's become more stingy than light and easy. Been on lite and easy 3 weeks now. Getting a lot of the curries as dinner although I reckon a nice vindaloo would be a better option as currently that seems to take only half an hour from time of eating to stomach cramp and shit. Food can't be added to the fat stores if it's passing through that quick I'd guess.

The main change has been for the last 4-5 weeks I've been doing 7k a day, originally as a jog with lots of stop/walks but is now just a fast walk as I'm having knee and feet problems when I was jogging, still having a lot of heel pain but anti inflammatory pain killers here are helping. Originally started it more to help convince me to stay off the faggs (been three months) as route has a f@#$ killer hill and burning lungs sucking air helps convince me I don't want to add smoking back into that mix.
