@Salacious-Crumb said in RWC squad. Who's in, who's out?:

    @kiwiinmelb

If this doesn’t make me get a FB account, nothing will. But nope, never going to happen. I’ll stick with The Fern.

No need to have two different sites with fake news and misinformed opinions.

Just reporting back as have now come out of hungover state.

Rugby was great. Didn't view the whole game and can over only a few MVP votes.

First off....the stag on the stag doo. He didn't know anything about the trip, got picked up thursday from auck flown to chch had a night out. Friday we had a pub crawl road trip to Dunedin (he thought it was to Q-town as he thought he got inside word from someone). When we got to Dunedin he was that gone he thought we were in Qtown.
MVP's of the Friday: 3 Points: Random Maori guy at the pub in Ashburton doing 'magic tricks' for everyone including smoking a dobbie with his nostril.
2 points: Akira Ioane: Loved shouting pretty much the whole bar (was out with Laumape....both proving great team culture before a game).
1: The girl we got kicked out for being too thirsty and walking up to everyone in our group and trying to get them to go home with her (literally her first words).

Saturday: 10am beers followed by Hens party dancing lesson at stilitos for the stag and lappy after. Back to studentville for some backyard and drinking on the street then Octy and then rugby.
Stag did well with his '4 more years banner' Wallabies jersey and face painted jumping up anytime anyone scored.
MVP points: 3: The only hot stripper I think Dunedin has ever had
2: Goodhue and the other guys on debut still wearing their All Blacks Caps out in town (mention to him for looking like it was getting him a couple of birds)
1: Akira, again at the bar on Saturday buying big rounds. Recognised me off my face and chucked a drink my way.

@Stargazer Looking forward to seeing him sign with Toulon and 3 games in the owner saying this isnt the Dagg I saw in the 2011 RWC highlights I watched....

  • What position did you play?
  • Magpie_in_ausM Magpie_in_aus

Lock/6/8 (pretty sure thats what most locks say when they want to not play lock)

Loved my footy growing up played most of the age group reps from 9-12 years old. Got to play with and against some really good players growing up in HB in what was a pretty good period for HB rugby.

Played 3 years of 1st 15. Coach had sat me down in 5th form and outlined what big aspirations he had for me and how he thought I could be the next big name to add to his Taine Randall/John Timu list. God knows where he got that idea from.... I was always really fit but never had any type of acceleration or top-end speed. I could just keep up my average sprint for a whole game. I just generally looked like I was more places because I was alright at reading the game. I think he was excited because I was 189cm at 15 and he thought I would still grow and then fill out my frame (was 72kg)....

I certainly filled out the frame but didn't grow another CM taller. Plodded along after that and career highlights were few and far between. Literally the list is 50+ games for a mediocre 1st 15, playing a colts game for Tech while on high school holidays and getting play of the day over future World Cup Try scorer Karne Hesketh, and making a Canadian Provincial Training squad a day after I landed off the basis that 'he's a kiwi so he must be alright'.

After high school just played a bit at uni and then here and there overseas while travelling. Had much more success as a physio than a player haha having worked with some cool teams in both rugby and other sports.

Rugby is a sport I watch now basketball and golf and the sports I play...or attempt to.

So after watching the video I can conclude we need to come down hard on all involved.

Footage is a but grainy but to me it looks like marshall arguing with foster and his assistants.

    Fire them all.

@kiwiwomble maybe that is why she retired. Her husband found out about her fiancee. She would have got away with it if it wasn't for the blasted fern and their meddling dog.

  • Bodybuilding.....
  • Magpie_in_ausM Magpie_in_aus

Going to give powerlifting a break for the time being. Thinking of giving a bodybuilding comp a go in August/Sept this year. Get jacked before I get married at probably some stage around then.

Feel I have an alright base from the last 18 months of powerlifting.

Based on timing and weight/BF% I will need to drop I am looking at doing a 11-12 week maintenance phase (not looking to bulk just clean the diet up and maintain a bit of muscle. Then doing a 20ish week slow cut wit the aim to lose 1% total BW per week during the cut.

Have got a program sorted and was going to look at getting a prep coach but instead smashed Layne Nortons Complete Prep Book over the last couple of days.

Has a lot of science behind what he preaches which is nice rather than bro-science. Good formulas and frameworks to work off including the final week etc. He is pretty well known in the space of natural bodybuilding. Not planning on juicing so that obviously changes prep etc as well.

Also going to add in some stuff from ATG (athletic truth group) there stuff looks great for improving mobility and stx through range. Got a couple of ex pro footy mates who now own gyms who swear by it. One of the advocates of it just spent the last 4-6 weeks training SBW on the GC with the principles.

Looking to improve me mobility inparticular. Most will be incorporated into my training with some stretching stuff done at nights.

Going to get a DEXA scan next week so I can get specific on all the timing/calories/macros etc.

Anyone got any good places to get meal ideas based on your macros?

Steve Smith has hired his cousin Aaron Smith to give him and Warner some advice. Aaron recommended they both sign sawn testimony. Warner went first Smith went 'afterdavid'.

I'm a qualified physio so is my gf we have both worked with world class athletes which I assume you are in that class....

I would sign up to this site https://atgonlinecoaching.com/ (I have no affiliation ) do one of their lower limb programs....game changer.

Would also add in some single leg balance work get to 30 seconds before progressing

    • single leg standing with eyes open
    • eyes closed
    • eyes open on a pillow
    • eyes closed on a pillow

Bench mark 20-30 single leg calf raises (with one finger on the wall for balance but no weight through that hand)

20 hops on the spot. Make a mark so you are practicing landing on that specific spot. Progress to making a small diamond or square shape. Hop to each corner and back to the middle. Keep balance and maintain landing on specific spots. Progress to triple hop for distance landing on the third hop.

If any don't make sense hit me up but the atg stuff is good get stuck in.not just for ankle but whole body stuff.

Also just a disclaimer. If I ever catch up with any of you in person there is a high likelihood after a few shandys I will be a lot better than my explanation. Every year since my last game I get 4.5% better.
Statisticans have run the numbers and in 7 years I would have been better than McCaw, DC, BBBR and Scott Hamilton Combined.

  • All Blacks v France Test 3
  • Magpie_in_ausM Magpie_in_aus

Fairly excited! Got 18 of us doing a 'undy 500' stag doo. The stag doesn't even know its on this week. He gets picked up from work on Thursday flown to chch then everyone else rolls in Friday. Two vans full to pub crawl down to Dunedin.

Brewery tour and strippers Saturday then some old school scarfie behaviour before the game. I will be checking this thread on sunday to see what happened at the game I was at.

On the plus side he is a die hard AB's fan. He is wearing an old wedding dress Friday but we have got an embarassing outfit for him on Saturday....

He has to go to the game in full Wallabies kits (green and gold face paint) with a aussie cork hat and a banner that bags the all blacks (or talks up the wallabies).

Any good ideas on what to put on the banner....so far all we have it 'bring back quade' 'McCaw is a cheat'
