@Crucial Have you been to The Gunmakers in Clerkenwell? Fantastic little pub for real ale. A decent euro ale on tap, and good food too. Nice little Day of the Triffids connection.

I really miss good 3 to 4% British ales.

I live near there - but never heard of it. Will aim to try it out soon.

Not an area I have yet to find myself in. Will keep it in mind though. All recommendations are good.
Just had a look at their website and it is a complete abortion. There's stuff about a hairdressers, stuff about some famous young chef who doesn't actually appear to be cooking there and nothing about being a pub. All very weird.

No idea about websites. If you want to check out a hidden gem in Bloomsbury, try the Duke of York. Lovely spot.

Garage Project Silk Road Kolsch...very nice, for a 7.5% beer I thought it was great!
McLeods Chili Pils...initially found it pleasant and a nice touch of heat, but I made the mistake of taking too long to drink it while doing dishes and stuff and the last few mouthfuls the chili was overpowering and the chili did what it sometimes does to my body...

@taniwharugby Yeah, I've had some decent beer from there. Apparently their new head brewer is from 8 Wired.
They did one with a new trial hop from NZ Plant & Food Research that was pretty good.

Nothing particularly new to add to this thread apart from the fact that boofing down something in the region of 18 panhead APAs followed by Red Wine and shots leaves you feeling extremely bloated and hungover. I did this several weeks ago. Pretty rough.
Has anyone else noticed that mainstream beers have all the nutritional guff on the labels nowadays? whilst they're hardly a 'healthy' option they're certainly a damn sight better for you than craft beers. It's no coincidence that craft beer brewers have big sets of moobs to go with the beards.

Boundary Road Chocolate Moose Porter.
I liked this, it is quite smooth, nice aromas and full of flavour.

Also just had the BRB Oatmeal Stout with Arabica coffee.
Also Liked this one, pretty light for a stout, but good flavours for 6.5%!

Had some Pirate Life IIPA yesterday at lunch. 8.8% with big citrus aromas. Very nice.

Sounds nice.
Not tart or sour but this Red Ale is one of the most quaffable numbers I have come across. The balance of malt and hops is near on perfect. Hops don't dominate but the flavours come through enough to add interest. Incredibly smooth and just as nice from bottle as it is from cask.

An All Black and founder of NZs best mainstream brewery. That's pretty much living the dream right there. Will raise a few Hop Rockers in his memory this weekend. RIP.

@bovidae what a legend. Took on the mainstream brewers and more than held his own. Funny how he was frozen out of using mainstream bottlers by the big guns and resorted to the odd shaped bottle that became their trademark. Mac's gold was the precursor to the craft beers we see today.
