Who is the AB's 4th choice at 10?

@westcoastie You could play a prop at 10 against those minnows.
Fark that'd be funny.
This week, we've named Ofa at 10. We're keen to see how he goes
-
@antipodean yes you could, (I'd give Dane Coles a go if we're talking about front-rowers) but you wouldn't in a quarter or semi, and if you needed to (touch wood we don't) you want to have a back-up 10, who has played as part of our systems.
Say the move Ben Smith to 10, then fine - yes its robbing Peter to pay Paul, but at least Jordie or Havili at 15, on the balance of things is better than any of our other options at 10 currently. I just want whomever is our third #10 to play their vs those minnows, so they've had time in the saddle.
-
The could just pick two five eights for the WC (I see there is also a Herald article about this). Very risky, but in that case the coaches could use the pool minnow games to trial different combinations (as they have in the past) to test a scenario where both five-eights go down, so I could see Jordie, Ben Smith, or Crotty be used there at some point in those games, to cover for a last minute injury.
Nevertheless, for the RC, they have to bring in some one else.
Could we set up a poll? Iโll bet on Otere Black, which freaks the shit out of me; he has a very small body of work.
-
I would have thought Otere Black was comfortably ahead of the rest. He's solid enough, definitely nowhere near as bad as some on here make him out to be.

Problem is after BB, Mo'unga, & Dmac they all have a very small body of work. I guess Hunt is the most experienced - he's not getting the game time tho?
I am of the opinion they won't take a third for the RWC, honestly any of the utility backs could do it vs the two minnows*.
For the RC they'll take Black, I guess, unless Perofuture comes back fit and firing.

@KiwiMurph Pefofeta being picked would worry me just as much as Cameron. Way too green in SR.
Perofeta led the Blues to a victory over the B&I Lions. He'll be fine.

Personally, I blame Duluth for starting this thread. How did he know?
A bit arrogant of @Duluth worrying about our 4th when we donโt have a 3rd....

Stephen Brett had some good wins too. That didn't make him "fine".

Tom Taylor plays at 13 for Pau these days, Colin Slade is their fullback and Simon Mannix their coach.
So you're saying we need three 'drivers'?
Mannix just quit after a 70 point smashing, and I've no interest in either Slade or Taylor
Cruden is playing shite
As is soapy
Only DC has been playing decently of our off shore tens, and he's in hospital
NZR isn't going to change the rules for that shit bunch. Neither will they for Parker, who unlike Todd is not NZ signed and unproven
We've just got to live within our means, and hope for no more injuries
-
The few games I've seen of Cruden for Montpellier he has been rubbish. Ditto Sopoaga for Wasps. Haven't seen Slade or Taylor play at all, so no idea for them. In the pool, I voted for Black. I reckon he could do a job, not sure about a RWC winning job though.
-
no way they send out an SOS to anyone playing off-shore, that said I guess if Cruden, Spopaga, Slade or someone was seriously considering a move home, they should be getting in touch with the Chiefs management right now and I expect NZR would make it easy.
So yeah...BB, RM...dayllight...night time...sleep in...
As above, if I was forced to choose, I'd be inclined to give Crotty a run at 10, but with him in the same team as RM, it aint gonna happen.
Are a few outside backs that could probably convert to 10, but too late for many.

Wasn't West the guy who made the difference in that game?

and SBW scored a magnificent try under the sticks - just off the charts. We got beaten up all game, but burgled it. Still the best experience I've had with the Blues in 11 years at Eden Park
-
We've only got five tests to get someone new involved and in some degree up to speed, pre-RWC.
If the selectors are determined to continue with the two playmaker model they used in 7 of 12 tests last year with McKenzie at fullback, the only way to do it is start Mo'unga at 10 and shift BB to 15. We wouldn't need a 10 on the bench but it'd make sense to blood someone.
