Building myself back up

Swimming last night. I was the only one who showed up so coach jumped in the lane beside me. Asshole. Humbling as hell. Fucker is like a fish. I wasn't in form last night either which made it worse. But a good workout. Shame he's leaving next week. Developing a bit of a man crush.
Must needed chest today... Good stuff. Triceps too. Pretty good week.

Saturday was swimming. Very nice.
Went out on Saturday, so a few beers were had. Late night but pretty sensible. Good thing too. Just can't handle hangovers any more. Waste of the next day as well and time is pretty precious these days.
Had to get up at 3:30 on Monday because youngest is going on school trip. That's such a shit time because you're too tired to do anything and it was 2 hours until swimming. I chose bed and slept in. Fook it, I deserved it, but struggled for the rest of the day. Seems like I need to get out of the blocks with some training in the mornings or I'm in trouble.
Today was back and biceps. Really good. Top session.

Only 3 days of training today but it's been focused. Doubled up on Wednesday and Thursday so am sore as a bitch today. Unfortunately no swimming tomorrow so that's it for 2 weeks. Back to running I guess. Probably a good thing. Shoulders screaming out for a break.
Speaking the bleeding obvious, but getting proper sleep this week (eldest off school, youngest on school trip) has made training much easier, particularly swimming. Will enjoy it while it lasts.

@Rancid-Schnitzel good to hear. Funny aye, no matter your willpower if you are down on sleep sometimes it just taps you out. Enjoy the extra Z's bro!! Send some my way ha ha

Yeah, felt a bit bad writing that when I knew you were still in the early child no sleep phase. Just don't let her get into swimming or rowing if you want your sleep in future years.

6 days, dang!
No swimming this week which has been odd but running on Monday and weights every other day. Hoping to double up tomorrow.
Shoulder much better which is a relief.
-
Some serious DOMS today in the legs. Means I've been doing something right but damn I'm sore. Walking around city with youngest today didn't help. Really missing those pool sessions and the recovery they aid.
Back and tris this morning. Very niiice 👌
-
Sore as a mofo the day and it was raining but cranked out a decent run.
Supposed to go up on a farking hot air balloon tommorrow. Not looking forward to that.....

@Rancid-Schnitzel don't like heights? Or the crashing into power lines to a flaming death bit?

All of the above. I see only a basket of death.
Last time it was cancelled just before we were about to hop in. I just want to get it over with but there a decent odds that will happen again.
-
Basket of death was ok. They pack in 24 people which is a bit shit and the basket was way too low imho (arm pit height), but after about 15 minutes of dread I relaxed and enjoyed the show.
A good experience which I wouldn't mind doing again.

Let's see:
Monday: Run with intervals. Solid 45min. Might have to pick up the pace a bit but swimming next week so all good.
Tuesday: Shoulders. Very nice. Went some military presses. Good stuff.
Wednesday: Legs. Reckon I've finally cracked this one in terms of the best program. Definitely digging the lunges.
Thursday: Chest and biceps. Always good when not rushed. Fine example of the female species there as well. Can't stand the bimbo/Instagram tart thing, but a fit, natural looking woman will do it for me every time. Gf probably moving in at the end of the school year but wish it would be sooner. Weekend rendezvous aren't nearly enough, but I'm at least sensible enough to know that I've been ridiculously lucky to find her and am not going to destroy that because my long dormant bratwurst now thinks it's attached to a teenager. -
Back swimming today. I'll give myself a massive pat on the back for this. It was farking freezing this morning with major wind chill factor. And I was the only idiot who showed up.
Anyway, new coach, who is head coach of the club. Top bloke. Ex Olympian and Commonwealth Games gold medalist.
Was a great session. No massive sets other than kickboard. He knew I was shit at that and was determined to beat it out of me. Actually got more out of this lesson technically than I have previously. Butterfly improved alot as well. I'm incredibly fortunate to have private lessons with a top level coach. Kind of felt bad that a guy who should be coaching Olympians is wasting his time on me. Ah well, I'm definitely not complaining!

Met the old man for a post swim ( him not me ) coffee the other morning. Just after 7am.
Freyberg Pool is right on Ori Bay and there were mad fluffybunnies emerging from the sea ( bear in mind what city I'm in and what month it is ) wearing nothing but speedos. I was in jeans, shirt, thick coat and beanie.
Crazy shit !

That's insane. I see no value in that other than perhaps some kind of SM pleasure.

@Rancid-Schnitzel I reckon they wouldn't feel anything! Frozen solid!!

Tuesday: Shoulders. Very good. No twinges of pain. Good sesh.
Wednesday: AM: Really good leg workout. Just smashed it. Feeling it today though.
PM: Was again the only one who showed up but definitely can't complain. This dude is awesome and puts up sets that suit me perfectly. I asked him how much he trained when an Olympian. I forget the exact details, but it was pretty much two sessions every day other than Sunday. There were also three gym sessions a week and other land work. It's a full-time job and obviously shows how important sports funding is to success. But just imagine doing all that and maybe not even making the national team or getting knocked out in a heat. Insane.Thursday: Very nice chest and bicep session. Absolutely mint. Been a great week training wise.
-
Friday: Back and tris. Good one that one.
Saturday: Swimming. More personal training. Pretty brutal session but was a great way to start the day.
Sunday: Bit of an epic run. Ended up doing almost an hour, although there were stops for some ab intervals and I usually walk the first 500m or so. Not sure how far it was because Strava hates me and my phone apparently.
Monday: Swimming. No wind so not as bad this time and water temp perfect. Another dude there, so pain could be spread. This was fooking hard.
25m max, easy back, then 25m max kickboard, easy back X farking 8. I absolutely hate kickboard but the super coach has vastly improved my technique. Still a total cnut to do.Before that was 25m underwater (with flippers) then 1 lap breathing every 5 strokes, then every 7, then every 9. 4 of those. That shit is hard!

@Rancid-Schnitzel sooooo when does that shit cross over into autoerotic asphyxiation!! You sure your coach isn't a secret kinky mofo!!

Maybe! He kept stressing how important it was to stay relaxed and make slow, steady movements. I went underwater, closed my eyes and ended up going sideways diagonal under two other lanes. When my hands hit what I thought was the end of the pool, I realised it was actually the side of the pool.🤣 The shame...
