He'll start in a fortnight.
Dunno about starting the big games, but I'm way less worried about injuries to Sam & Brodie.

Is there a reason for the blue and orange (tape?) boots?
Or the black lines on the field. Looks like they might have forgotten to do them earlier and found some diesel and a stray paint brush and painted them on as a quick fix.
Loved the creosote look.

Get Todd off the field. Has the impact of soggy Weet-Bix. Pat T carrying on from rhe Bledisloe game. Big impact on defence.
I swung wildly throughout on Todd. He'd get smashed on the carry then win a turnover 30seconds later.
Worthy of his spot but definitely behind Cane & Ardie.

“Look at the strides he takes afterwards”
He was getting the kicking tee you doofus
Best laugh of the day and worth repeating just to mock Marshall.

Turn on Prime TV and see George Bridge scoring off the first kick off of the second half.
Is there a mercy rule?
Play the last 15 one man short

Thanks to @Kirwan for alerting me to the below stats site.

Who was our last NZ European regular left winger?
So excluding Scott Hamilton’s lone test...?
Kirwan ?
Right.
Craig Green?
I'll play.
I'll see Nepia's Craig Green and raise you a Terry Wright.

That's not a YC ffs
I think it probably is from the end on shot - but for the game he should have sent two ABs off as well.
Terrible call -- he was pulling out and put a hand out to soften the impact. Just in no way a yellow.
Referees are going to cost some teams at this cup, and it's going to suck.
I thought it was fair.

Taking a player out in the air.
from the IRB
looks to be a penalty - but I think they got the YC/RC call right (assuming it's not strict liability)
Challenging players in the air - Law 10.4(i)
Play on – Fair challenge with both players in a realistic position to catch the ball. Even if the player(s) land(s) dangerously, play onPenalty only – Fair challenge with wrong timing - No pulling down
Yellow card – Not a fair challenge, there is no contest and the player is pulled down landing on his back or side
Red card – It’s not a fair challenge with no contest, whilst being a reckless or deliberate foul play action and the player lands in a dangerous positionCorrect call. No penalty so restart with a scrum.
Was penalty at worst.

He hit him with the shoulder even while pulling out. I don't disagree that refs will cost teams but by the letter of the law it's yellow.
Probably - I'd argue little force and pulling out - but to me shows how refs don't seem to have 'feel' for the game any more. I don't think that's the sort of tackle that was intended to be carded, no matter how the laws are written.
I think Gardner does and this decision just now shows that.
I disagree with Marshall. For me, that's still a penalty and possibly yellow card - the precedent was that bloke who slipped while taking off a year or two back and still copped it. I think the Tongans were right.
Not a red, but I don't think it was a scrum either for that matter
That one was either scrum Tonga or red card Jordie Barrett. Laws of the rugby don't give you any grey area. As soon as Jordie commits a foul, it all comes down to how the player lands.
See above quoted post.

Still listening to the conference, Hansen very grumpy, back to bad old Hansen
His jab at the press at the 6:12 mark was awesome. Calls them out for being lazy boring useless time-wasters.
Didn't think his reactions were all that necessary.
What are the questions they should have been asking?

I don't think that could be described as a fair challenge. Jordie did not get in a position to fairly challenge for the ball. Only thing that saves Jordie is the trip but either way it is not a fair challenge.

Hilariously one sided. A great display of bruise free attacking rugby. I'm sure they had a heap of fun though.
Tonga with zero linespeed and it only took a couple of passes for their entire system to break down. Naively threw numbers at too many rucks too.
Barrett running on to the ball makes us look so good. His kicking from hand is very ordinary though.
Watched Patty T a bit, he was fucking good. Smashing dudes, but also working hard to keep being in a position to make a difference.
Todd is good over the ball, and a nice link player, but shouldn't be hitting the ball up. Like ever.
Great to see the low numbers running and passing with confidence.
Defensive alignment very good.
ALB the best midfielder in the country and needs to start. -
Can we shoot Justin Marshall? There was the aforementioned chasing the tee. Immediately questioning or disparaging the ref as soon as the whistle goes. He's just an awful commentator
And I am pretty sure at some point he mentioned a bloke named Puitolutu
-
One more, what was with the ball? It looked like they lost the match ball and had to play with the old faded training ball

@Billy-Tell I reckon they might go:
A. Smith, Mo'unga, Bridge, SBW, ALB, B.Smith, Barrett
TJP, Crotty, Ioane/Reece
I’m intrigued to see. Goodhue either starts or not in the 23. ALB and Crotty cover 12/13. SBW as a “game changer” probably in the 23. I personally think Ben Smith is now 15 only. Good headache to have.
I think Jack won't have played for a month and there's not much to choose between him, ALB and Crotty - so they'll go with the other two. Crotty could start with ALB on the bench. I'm pretty sure they'll start SBW, they pretty much have any time he's fit.
Ben Smith hasn't got searing pace on the wing, but he's not exactly a cripple playing there either - played lots of tests there last year and was excellent yesterday - whereas I thought Sevu made a couple of errors.
In fact, thinking more about it, I think definitely Reiko in my 23 - with one of him or George at 11 and the other on the bench. I think George has taken his chance with both hands so they might go with form on the left and experience on the right.
