@jegga fascinating. Snowden speaks and explains things very well. Informative and enlightening around the intelligence agencies and realities of his situation
You might want to check out John Oliver’s interview with him . Oliver can be a biased dick at times but he did call him out on the fact that people would have died due to what he did and when he tried to brush him off Oliver didn’t let it go and he said you have to own that which he finally acknowledged.
Found part of it

@Duluth Fair enough .
That post of mine that was deleted in the twitter thread wasn't political , it was some dork ranting at someone else about the Baltimore and asking if he'd seen the wire. The guy he was ranting at was actually the guy that wrote the wire.

@jegga one way of looking at it. Not sure that keeping big secrets while blatantly misleading the public and defying the constitution is going to lower any collateral damage death tolls, in the long run.
Better to have some public awareness of individual surveillance in a context that affects everyone's notion of personal freedom and autonomy.
Too big a global personal rights issue to feign sympathy for the deaths of people I know nothing about.

I hear but I don’t think it’s not to much to ask the likes of Snowden and Assange not give away the names of people helping fight terrorism. Snowden did it through incompetence, Assange did it for malicious reasons.

I watched this yesterday. Has Rogan ever spoken less in an episode?
Snowden has talked about this so many times that his answers are so rehearsed now. The response to every question was a long deliberate story, hitting certain key points hard.
It was still interesting but I was hoping a real conversation would breakout in the last hour

That’s the quietest he’s ever been, obviously no chance to wedge chimps or DMT into the conversation either .
It did make me think of Campbell’s epic thrashwank at John Key over the GCSB and make me wonder how much control NZ has over what we have to collect as part of the price of being in five eyes . A competent reporter might have actually cornered Key on that unfortunately Campbell is a petulant child and got batted away pretty easily.
Snowden was part of kitdotcoms great reveal in 2014 election along with Assange and Greenwald . From memory he wasn’t a huge part of the evening, pretty hard to stand out with those other two self aggrandising twats ranting away I guess .

About 2/3rd through, taking my time and re-listening to parts as I think its probably pretty important. Pretty fascinating story although pretty unsurprising really. I do wonder if the existence of the Constitution might in time right these wrongs, at least it gives some sort of a firm foundation to work back toward.
