@Siam here goes some of the TP leaving NZ...
I hope the baggage handlers managed to lose this one
Haaaa , can you imagine them waiting at the carousel then going nuts at some poor foreign staffer, while some Auckland baggage handler is 8 Lion Reds deep while looking at his new stash of 100 rolls in his living room.

haha good image but I would have faith in our baggage handlers to distribute it to those who needed. I could imagine them though having to describe the lost luggage or trying to claim on their travel insurance

Not saying they haven't fudged their figures, but they were probably able to flatten their curve because of the intense lockdown they undertook. Taiwan Singapore and South Korea all undertook (and have ongoing) similar heavy restrictions and it is no coincidence that these nations have managed coronavirus the best. Germany similarly has had their efficiency and discipline result in modest numbers.
There was an interesting piece I read which suggested testing was being done in different ways which is having a big impact on stats - i.e. Germany having 19k cases but only 91 deaths is possibly due to their identifying more cases than other countries, but having a lower real infection rate than, say, Holland who have 3k identified cases but 106 deaths.
There was an analysis of the scientific data the UK released yesterday and one area being investigated is whether up to 23m people in the UK may have, or have had, Covid-19 without realizing it. Covid-19 may be far more lethal than thought, but only to a smaller part of the population.
Currently an anti-body test - to see if people have been infected without any symptoms showing - has been developed and is being tested. The medical folks here have repeatedly said this is the big game changer in understanding the disease.
Pure conjecture here, but I wonder if testing in some countries has been concentrated on sampling people overall to gain data on numbers who are infected but not showing symptoms, as understanding the thing is now more important now we can't contain it.

Ducked to Sainsbury's yesterday. Only beer left that you can buy by the case is Corona. Stacks of it! And well priced too.
I think one of the most worrying things to come out of all this is how thick most of society is.
Anyone wanna buy toilet paper?
Only been used once, right?

Just trying to see if this is legitimate...because man China's infection graph looks as dodgy as Swedens
Hit a mate up to look into this. Zeng is anti CCP but pro Chinese culture. The data she is showing is legit and starting to get noticed outside of the great firewall so Chinese state media should soon be commenting on it. Could very well be zombie accounts (as in fake accounts...not actual zombies in this apocalypse...yet) rather than actual accounts. China is apparently going on the propaganda offensive so hard now because more and more Chinese are getting through that firewall so they need to maintain their narrative.

Our Sainsburys wasn't too bad apparently, obviously I didn't brave it, think it's timing. No loo Roll though. We've got enough for now.
Wellness check everyone? Feeling OK?

Don't ask me.
Any:
- sniff
- sneeze
- throat clearing
- wooziness (It's 32 deg and I'm in the garden)
- vaguely tickly throat
And I'm consigning myself to the undertaker ...
Fuck this shit ...

@R-L the one we went to isn't our local. Had a good amount of meats and veg although we got one of the last packets of beef mince. Absolutely no flour at all though, which I found odd. Everyone is a baker all of a sudden? Not even cake mix packets. Only the expensive tinned tomatoes and not many of them, only tinned veg lefts is mushy peas.
Isolation is my default mode. Pig in shit.

Australia has lost its fucking mind. NT has decided it's no longer part of the federation by closing its borders and police are threatening to arrest people for not practising social distancing on beaches.

Huge fears over what this could do if it gets to aboriginal communities in the NT.
Beach goers are in for a rude awakening in a weeks time

I'm astounded how readily people have accepted these massive restrictions on everyday life.

Good to see sensible suggestions coming from the public. on Boris Johnson's Twitter feed.......

These are defacto War Measures, and in a civil emergency ā which is what this is ā Iām okay with a little enforced āCivil Coordinationā of a crowd that Darwin might have used as text book example of natural selection.
There is a contagion changing the behaviour of the planet and putting a lot of us out of work.
I can take 3-6 weeks without an income. What I have no patience for are people who want us to get sick and bleed financially for the next 18 months. This virus requires coordinated action NOW!
Go home and stay put ffs. Itās the least anybody who values their lives, their culture, and their wallets should be doing.
If the beach was getting shelled by missiles or a warning that a massive tsunami was coming, only suicidal idiots would be assembling at the beach. These irresponsible morons are no better than anti-vaxxers, ācos there aināt no vaccine (yet) for this one. I got no problem with a cop taking the keys from a drunk driver.
