yeah, i saw it reported as the Batman Beyond Bruce wayne, batman beyond was pretty cool so if they could capture that then it could work
could also help clean up a bit of the mess they have with so many different universes, jump forward in time a bit
Yeah, but Batman Beyond Bruce Wayne mentoring Batgirl is such a big change it may no longer be in the future too.
Multiverse lets them have their cake and eat it too with all the different versions.
i dont think mentoring "the bat" would change that much
my problem with the multiverse on screen is that fans generally read the comics and understood what they were getting into, stories aren't inherently connected etc, the films have a much bigger casual fan base and i think it get confusing for them, tv series seems to have got it right...not so much the movies,,,the movies just seem like lots of reboots
It's super confusing, so I'm interested to see how they are going to handle it. The focus recently has been on standalone stories, and they seem pretty popular.
> I have to wonder how many times they can reboot Batman before people lose interest.
And of course Warner Bros have signed JJ Abrams to a huge producing deal, and the rumour is they want him to to Superman, and there are mumorings he wants to recast. Which would suck.
id say thats already happening, especially when batfleck was so well received and then recast
That was more due to Ben Affleck going off the wagon. They gave him a movie to write, direct and star in but personal problems got in the way.
And he might be back too in the Synder Cut reshoots they are doing.
Would have loved to seen what he would have done with that.
hopefully if hes happy to come back for reshoots be may have calmed down a bit...might get back on board? Battenson can be a stand alone but the main continuity stays with Batfleck...probably not
i'll just add im excited to see the snyder cut but it does just add to the fucked up ness of the DCEU, two completely different version of the same movie being out there

Same with the Joker movie though, and that's not connected to Synderverse or the new Batman. I think it can work to have completely disconnected movies, and have some connected as long as they tell mostly standalone stories.
The linked world should be a bonus, you shoudn't have to watch ten films to understand the plot.

i'll agree with this in so far as different heros etc....but as much as i liked Joker...having the Joker without batman...feels weird
kind if think that film would have bee equally good if he just wasnt the joker and it just told the story of a guy going mad, cut about five minutes of footage and not have him ask to be called joker and you'd have it

The least a true fan could do.
someone should tell marvel this, wouldn't want their EU to fail....
-
Sarcasm aside, each movie should be able to stand alone. Even the "we all come together to save the world" should be able to do so and people can then have a look at other character's.
Or don't I understand writing a script?

i think marvel proved if dont right thats not the case anymore
even if you watched all the avengers....things would not make complete sense let alone if you went straight to infinity war

Am I the only one here that thinks Synder is great visually but isn't a directors arsehole?
Is the Flash movie? have they cast the Flash?
Edit: I just thought Ezra Miller was canceled for choking out a fan.
He has a particularl visual style, and his movies can be a bit long for some people, but I like his movies.
Ezra seems to have avoided the bullet for that incident. Have you seen it? It's not as black and white as you describe, it was weird.

I've regularly commented on my dislike of Snyder's directing - the last film of his I truly liked was 300. I didn't want to be the first to comment and incur @Kirwan's wraith in this thread.
I haven't heard any of these rumours yet (I'm about two weeks behind on the Fatman Beyond podcast but I'm sure they'll discuss this). Keaton coming back to the franchise will be good.

It's all subjective. Plenty dislike JJ Abrams style too, and Tarantino. At least when directors have a distinctive style you know what you are in for, and it's easy to avoid if you don't like it.
Smith is LOVING the news

Oh definitely, I love Tarantino, mostly like JJ (most recent Star Wars definitely excluded) and pretty much dislike all of Snyders superhero movies, which is disappointing because I want to see good Batman and Superman. I'm looking forward to the Robert Pattinson one although I think it's going to be another more 'adult' version however it looks interesting.

Reeves, who is doing the new Batman movie. So imagine the style will be different, but those movies were well made.

The Suicide Squad. Not seen the (small t) Suicide Squad, but the Drinker Recommends The (new) Suicide Squad for some dumb fun, so I will catch this when it hits online

@machpants fair play re the grammar, its does get confusing with both having such similar names
yeah, will probably wait until its free on a streaming service
