Building myself back up

Changing things up a bit with chest and biceps today. Normally do this on Thursday but I'm finding energy levels are significantly lower by then and I'm not smashing it or enjoying it as much as I should. Felt good today so hopefully it will do the trick going forward.

Been a while...
Covid obviously changed things up a bit. Obviously no gym or pool so had to get creative with buckets full of bricks. Did alot of running with the gf which was nice and thankfully the cops turned a blind eye to the public gym equipment nearby so could use bars etc. But seriously over the running (my farking knees) and was stoked to finally get back into the pool (which only reopened 3 weeks ago).
So back at the gym 4 times a week and 4 times swimming. The Saturday swim is followed by 40 minutes of running/intervals. A mate wants me to get into mountain biking on Sundays but I think I'll give it a miss. My body generally tells me to go f myself if I try to exert myself on God's rest day π.
Anyway. Legs this morning then pool this evening.

Bit of mixed bag unfortunately mate. Eldest has gotten caught up with the wrong crowd and has been into drugs and all the rest of it. Just got expelled from school for selling weed to a kid on the spectrum π€¦ββοΈ Obviously this must be a mixture of the trauma of losing his mother and being a general arsehole teenager (plus the toxic social media environment that is now rampant) but unfortunately all services to help him are voluntary and he refuses point blank. The worst thing is learning how broken the system is. The various services all pass the buck and tell you straight out that the system is shit. And the poor police can't do anything. Sorry I'm rambling.... Hopefully he'll come right eventually but it's bloody tough to go through.
On the plus side my youngest is thriving and my new partner is terrific. I think also all this exercise has helped. Just clears my head and allows me to keep going forward. Drinking would be easier but I get shocking hangovers π.

@Rancid-Schnitzel if there is one place in the world that you NEVER have to say sorry for rambling, I think its here!
Damn, having a teenager sounds hard. Yours doesn't sound like he's done/doing anything that half the people round here didn't do as kids, and we all turned out ok.
Ok, that probably didn't help. π
Sounds like life is moving in the right direction generally though, hang in there!
-
@Rancid-Schnitzel Welcome back to the fold.
Jesus, what a shit show to deal with. Sorry to hear that. Keep well and glad to hear there are some positives.
-
Cheers mate.
Nice to be able to get the workout log going again. Making sure I stay well away from politics....and Star Wars π€£ -

Thanks Mate.
Yeah, there were some jaw-dropping stories on a drugs thread a while back. That "Say no to drugs" campaign must have been an epic failure! I'm sure he'll come right in the end, but I'm just shit scared of what could happen in the meantime.

Well my man Jordie Barrett has come good. Just like I predicted π

@Rancid-Schnitzel if my kids do even 10% of the shit I did, I'll have a heart attack while they are teenagers.
-
My boys stepdad and I recently regaled them with some tales of dumb shit we got up to.
However they came with warnings that if some of them are repeated by this generation theyβll get followed up with double beatings......
More close family = more discipline.....

You damn right he did, what a player. I've been white knighting the fuck out of him in your absence.

difference is back then, when you did dumb shit, 99% of the time there was zero evidence of said dumb shit, if you got caught, you probably got a kick up the arse from a cop, then your parents, now however...
-
@Rancid-Schnitzel when did you get back?!
Edit: can see there's a lot to read above....
Ah man, bad times with your eldest, he'll come good stick with him. Good to see you back on here!

Exactly mate. Nobody does anything. What I find disturbing is that all of the various institutions (police, child safety, Qld Health, schools) complain about how the system is shit and how the civil libertarians have screwed everything up but they do nothing themselves to change it. I guess most people just want to do their thing, keep their head down and get paid every month but that's a bit hard to swallow when it concerns such vital public services. What's even worse is that my hands are effectively tied by the law these days and I'm dependent on these services that seem to just exist on paper.

Anyway, shoulders this morning. Always pretty decent. Finish every session with an ab workout which is 30sec each of about 10 different ab exercises. Stomach screams after that.
Bit frustrating at the moment though because am training with a mate who is overweight and looking to slim down considerably. He's a top bloke and I love him to bits but we're on week 9 now and he just phones it in and is looking for every shortcut under the sun. He had some results early on when his starting point was zero but it's getting a bit embarrassing now. Try to advise about diet and more cardio but he wants to do it his way and seems to think he can have regular blowouts now he's getting to the gym. When you're making the effort to get to the gym and putting in the time why waste it. He spends an inordinate amount of time on calf raises. Love calf raises but that ain't gonna burn fat dude!
