Has this been confirmed officially by the club? Or is this still in the "rumour" phase?

It's a bit premature to assume Faumuina will still be selected for the All Blacks if he's leaving the country straight after the Lions tour.
-

Ugh, not Charlie... Pretty much got the best hands and fastest feet of any prop going round I reckon.

Well, by then he'll be 31ish and he's been a rock for Auckland/Blues. I wouldn't begrudge him a good payday.

I had hoped he'd make it through to RWC 2019 though, he's such a good impact player.
-
This story has been around for a couple of weeks. Both Toulouse and Clermont would like to sign Charlie Fauminia:

http://www.leclubrugby.fr/top14/charlie-faumuina-devrait-etre-en-france-en-2017 -

I was suprised he stayed on after the world cup so I'm not suprised by this. Good luck to him.

The club won't confirm anything "officially" before 2017 but the newspaper La Dépêche is very close to the club so the news come from somebody working for Stade Toulousain.
-

Is there a poster I "hate" more...

At least mollycoddle us by saying "is rumoured to be joining" rather than "will join".

I'm not the least surprised. He just about left last time, but decided to stay to try and crack the starting 3 spot...which still hasn't happened. He's not getting younger...and TH earn a mint in France...
-

Not happy with that. -
Does seem odd so far out, especially with the Lions a big thing for most current ABs and opting to leave now if you are a bench AB may see you miss the Lions should say Laulala make good strides next year

yeah, it is some perverse pleeasure Jauzy gets out of this. Menawhile - 3 great games were played on the world stage and France are an afterthought
-

No perverse pleasure for me, i just want to inform you. I'm bored of all those foreign players coming in France, there is no identity in our clubs and the level isn't better so now i watch only 1 or 2 games per week when i watched 4 or 5 before.

I really hope rugby in NZ won't become as it is in France now.
-

Dave Rennie to become head coach of the Glasgow Warriors from the beginning of the 2017-2018 season.

Wouldn't everything be a step down?

I mentioned it in another thread but perhaps he wanted a specific type of contract with out clauses and many of the bigger clubs weren't interested in that?

I'm more surprised the Townsend got the Scotland job seemingly without interviews/applications? Surely Rennie is a guy you look at for something like that?
-
You Chiefs boys should be hoping for Keane to take over.
If he can get them humming in attack like the Mako$ a couple of seasons ago combined with your inherent filthy niggling, smiley, you'll be in great shape

Might even make the semi finals.... -

Not at all.

1) He's Scottish

2) He has done a damn fine job with Glasgow

3) Rennie IMO has signed a 2 year contract with Glasgow and will return to NZ in 2019 as part of the assistant coaching panel for the 2019 RWC. I mean who can take over from Hansen? None of the current panel have any credentials as head coach, so that leaves IMO Rennie, Joseph, and probably Schmidt. I don't think the NZRFU would touch Gatland with a barge poll (rightly so IMO), Cotter has little real success on his CV, ditto for most other NZ coaches. I suppose if the Hurricanes lads can back-up next season, they will be in the mix too.
-

Not surprised by the appointment. Surprised by the timing and lack of a comprehensive search. To appoint someone this far out and without seeing what else is out there is unusual - especially for a team that needs all the help it can get to overperform.

Think you are spot on with 3.
-

The official media release on the Chiefs website:

Following his huge success with the Chiefs, Dave Rennie has been appointed Head Coach for the Glasgow Warriors in Scotland and will take up his new role at the completion of the 2017 Investec Super Rugby season.

Dave said it is with mixed emotions that he leaves the Chiefs.

“I have loved my time here and leave with a heavy heart. I’ve been fortunate to work with fantastic people and I am exceptionally proud of the men who represent us and what we have achieved over the past 5 years.†

Dave, who formerly coached Wellington, Manawatu and the New Zealand Under-20s, joined the Chiefs in 2012 and proceeded to take the Club to its maiden title in his first year. In 2013 he led the team to win a back to back championship and has since steered the team into the Super Rugby playoffs every year.

“Steph and I are really looking forward to a new phase in our lives. We are really impressed with what we have seen in Glasgow, the history, the people, the lifestyle. The Warriors are really aspirational, have good people, and have created a great culture under Gregor. But there’s a big job to be done here in 2017 before we pack our bags,†Dave said.

Chiefs Rugby Club CEO Andrew Flexman said while he has known about Dave’s intention to coach abroad for some time, he will be missed by the entire organisation.

“I wish Dave every success with the next chapter in his distinguished coaching career. We at the Chiefs are clearly disappointed to lose the services of such a talented coach.†

Dave will lead the Chiefs through his 6th Investec Super Rugby campaign for the 2017 season before taking up his new position for the beginning of the Northern 2017/18 season.

“We have a very exciting playing roster for 2017 and I know Dave will be determined to go out on a high note. The squad will not lack for motivation either given the contribution Dave has made to the success of this Club,†Flexman said.

Flexman says they are well advanced in discussions around a replacement.

“We hope to be in a position to confirm a new Head Coach for the Chiefs over the next few months.â€
