So finished 3 body problem.
Essentially a sci fi series, linking maths, cosmology and aliens.
3 episodes in and liking it. A bit different and great to see a minimum of stereotypical characters.
UPDATE: Finished and thought it excellent. Didn't drop off like a lot of series and a good mix of hokum and realism, spiritualism and hard science.
I like the way the 3 Body Problem refers to the 3 suns and the 3 Wallwatchers. Think there's a link there somewhere... Oh, and how did the aliens gets their technology and headsets to earth - Sophons? -
Not what I was expecting.
Much, much better than expected.
Will binge.

A lot of online twittering about the crap Brummie accents (is there actually a good one?).

Seem fine to me
But I'm no aficionado
The N Irish accents are bang on

This Town finished
Worth the license fee increase on its own
Some excellent young talent ably supported by old timers playing well out of character
Great writing, great pacing
Top tunes
4.5 RAs out of 5 BAs

The Gone. Well-plotted and well-acted but the Irish characters were a bit stereotyped. The use of te reo was really well done and added to the story.
3.5/5
finished that this week, was pretty good.
Often some Kiwi stuff can be a bit cringey, but this one seemed to work, some good acting but I think the stereo-typing could apply to many of the NZ characters too.
Yeah I thought the addition of Te Reo worked.
Assume a S2 is in planning with many unanswered questions, and obviously the ending.
Upto ep 5 of 3 Body Problem, that was a brutal episode.

Most of the Kiwi stuff we get over here is pretty good and non-cringeworthy. Brokenwood has assumed a bit of a cult status as the characters are pretty different and quirky.

@Victor-Meldrew thnk we watched a Season of that, was good, but there is so much stuff to watch.
Another kiwi one TVNZ have been adevertising this alot, but havent had a chance to look at it yet
-
Cheers. we'll look out for that.
-
@taniwharugby That has been on SoHo.
I can't say I've watched too many recent NZ series but this was enjoyable.
-
Haven't seen any of the Ripleys, nor read any of the books.
Going in blind.
2 episodes in and loving it.
Acting is top notch.
Cinematography is sumptuous.
Looking forward to seeing where this goes.
-
@MiketheSnow Yet another version of the movie but over 8 episodes? ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
At least adapt a different book from the series.

I'm at the same point and the cinematography appears to be heavily influenced by the period. The colour (B&W) balance is fantastic. Beautiful.

Some of the acting and dialogue got a little cheesy over the last half of Tokyo Vice season two, but the plot and cinematography were great. Ken Watanabe was brilliant and charming as hell.
Wrapped up well. Great series. Best thing on TV by a mile. Never checked my phone over 10 episodes.

3 Body Problem.
Pretty damn good, not full of action, just a good storyline and paced well.
Some of the science is beyond me, but for the most part explained well although irrelevant for me to understand the story.
As above, I dont thnk S2 has been green lit yet? WTF? Surely if Netflix dont do it, someone else will pick it up?
I was wondering the same as @Victor-Meldrew
How are the headsets and cases being produced? The San-Ti obviously have some tech on earth, the Sophon is more like a super computer (I think) so they need someone to be making them and delivering them.I also dont understand the solar sail side of things, how the sail 'filled out' to allow for the atomic propulsion, but the solar sail thing is in other movies too, so assume the science is there.
