You would have enjoyed the movie more if you had watched the series first.
Ok so I've watched the TV series (Firefly).
Pretty good overall, when you remember it was made over a decade ago.
Out of everything in the series what I wanted to know most was the Shepherd's background.

Annoyingly the movie doesn't help there.
Did you watch it in broadcast order or in actual order - did you watch the Train Job first or the longer pilot?

The Moodys on Netflix. Originally on ABC. Genuinely funny.
-
If you ever watched Friends & thought "why can't this be more like Weeds crossed with Californication" - You're The Worst
I'm late to the party (3 seasons in) but its fricking excellent. 2 horrible people meet & date. And everyone else is horrible too. and it spirals into chaos & shit. A bit like a younger version of Catastrophe
Also that trailer is not really safe for work

wNot sure how the series will go without Ragnar, as much as there are other good characters, I think he is crucial to the show.
Legend has it that his death was as shown on the series too.

@taniwharugby Yep, I'm watching it.

wIt's going to be weird not having a single focus - I hope Ivar isn't the new single focus.
I have no idea why they killed him off (maybe the actor wanted to leave?) when there is so many different legends out there, and they've made changes to legends/history in every season. It's going to be interesting when Bjorn returns and squares off against Ubba and Ivar (Sigmund doesn't appear to care) over Lagertha.

Are you talking about that show that's just like GOT without any good bits in it?
-
@antipodean cheers, the premise is interesting . Will put it on the list

Did a bit of Netflixing (but sadly not enough "and chill") over the holidays
Designated Survivor. Someone blows up the entire US Gov't, leaving a nobody to run the joint. Conspiracy!! Once you get over the fact that it's an act of terrorism, and Jack Bauer isn't fucking people's shit right the hell up, it's an enjoyable little watch. Not top draw TV by any means, but very watchable. No titties, little actual violence.
Last Chance U. Documentary about East Mississippi Community College's football program. Playing in Div 2 College football, it's like a halfway house for guys to get in, or back, to top schools if their grades are rubbish, or they got kicked off a roster for other issues. It's quite an interesting look at a football program, and the attitudes of the kids involved. Couple of big egos, some really dumb country boys, and some kids from bad backgrounds. All coached by a good old boy who coaches by bawling them out repeatedly (which has the expected response).
If you've got kids, Troll Hunters on Netflix is pretty bloody good too.

Designated Survivor.
I watched right up until the line of dialogue was "thank you for your service." "No, thank you Mr President".
That would've been the first 10mins.
-
@antipodean haha yea, there is a bit of that. Look, i'm not heralding it as a great piece of TV drama, it's just a decent TV show to watch when you don't want anything too heavy
-
@mariner4life yeah mate, always need those shows to watch!!
I have looked at that one, but decided not to watch haha
