@bobily2 saw a bit of footage today and man they are going hard on checking players out. Had sensor wands and some other device that can detect radio signals and Silicone. Ha ha really going hard on the potential 'internal' devices

Don't have the patience for chess but my boy is keen. Finally beat me at the age of 15.
My boy did it at 11. Does so regularly now.
I hammered him pretty easily a couple of Summers back but he worked on his game whereas I’m at a level that I think I’ll stay at whether I like it or not.
It is a brilliant game though although he did get pissed off I managed to battle to a stalemate ( ie a draw ) a few weekends ago which we both agree is a fucken stupid rule but there you go. He took my last pawn and had me cornered with the Queen and Castle but I couldn’t move my King without putting myself in check. Bang. Stalemate.
When we play timed games ( he has the app on his phone ) I beat him, to me that’s the equivalent of being good at T20s/Sevens but losing Test Cricket/Test Rugby so it’s not all that much to be proud of.

@MN5 I forgot there was even stalemate.
If we played timed games I might win because my boy's prone to the occasional unforced error. But then again I am too because our brains are similar. I don't have the patience to wait for hours between moves. Good analogy on the T20 thing.
He studies starts and has a phone app and plays online against a computer. I have no interest in that. Everything I've learned is from playing other kids as a teenager.
I'm sure I will get dragged into another game so he can assume his dominance.

Oh yeah on the speed games I take full advantage of his panic and indecision….
We’ll take the chess board away on holiday I’m sure, definitely a fun way to spend a lazy few days at the beach.
I think I’ve mentioned on here before but I beat the computer apps on easy, well very easily but the moment they I change the settings up I’m no match.
