2016 Hawkes Bay Mitre 10 Cup Tipping Team

Higgins - I have come out of retirement and submitted my picks.

-

That's good to hear, hopefully we will manage to get it all together to knock all comers off to get our title back. Two years has been a long time not wearing the Tipping Crown! Good to see your picture, nothing better than one of Blair Furlong who knocked over a late dropped goal that enabled us to retain the Shield against Wellington in '67. Could this be a good omen for tomorrow?

In view of recent setbacks it is getting close to the time a ruling along the lines of under no circumstances should we pick HB to win in the Tipping Contest mightnhave to be enforced. There is loyalty but we have to weigh that against the persuit of victory. It has been two long years since we last held the Championship so it is hightime we got it back and we aint going to do that by blindly tipping a HB victory whatever spread you might elect! Don't feel guilty about tiping against the Bay from now on as frankly tipping them for a win at the moment is done more with the heart than the head as sad as that is to accept.

I can see one occasion to still pick a Magpies win, and that's Southland, but damn, I refuse to pick against the Magpies in the game v BOP.

I suppose it's out of the question to expose the opposition teams a week before the game to Havelock North's tap water?
-
Righto guys, a bit of a toe stubbing against the table topping Bush mob last week with Plastered Peni having one out of the box for them effectively getting them home ahead of us. Sadly I was on the wrong side of the couple of games that could have gone either way so was not much help. At least we all managed to be on the right side of the Magpies two losses!!!!! Maybe, just maybe, they might manage to break their duck tomorrow night against Southland???
Time to pull our socks up and get our tips in by 7.35PM tonight NZ time to give us a good chance of taking down the second placed team in the competition. Now that this weeks opponents Nth Harbour and Auckland have combined they are no longer the easy beats they have been in the past but lets get out there and show them the form they are exhibiting since the merger has taken place is just a flash in the pan.
Good luck and tip confidently

http://www.eglobal.co.nz/tsfnpc16/tsf.htmDone. I'm going to be out tomorrow so won't see the game properly, but will be sneakily watching on my phone whenever I can. It looks like our top forward pack starting, so I have hope. Not convinced with Garland taking fullback spot ahead of Tongia, so maybe Tongia paying the price for giving away too many penalties last week (not that it really impacted the final score). Hopefully Fruean can provide the midfeild penetration we need without Buckman/Horrell

According to the official stats on the Mitre 10 Cup website, Tongia gave away 1 penalty against Auckland and none against Canterbury. That's only one more than Garland. I think it's more likely to do with Tongia missing too many tackles (3 of 3 v Auckland and 3 of 6 v Canterbury). Garland missed 1 of 4 against Auckland and 3 of 10 against Canterbury. Other stats for Garland are also slightly better than Tongia's and Tongia may be due a "rest", having played 385 minutes against Garland's 195 minutes.
Agree about Fruean. I hope he goes beastmode and slices through Southland's defence like a hot knife through butter (to use a cliche).

Sorry guys - my pick of HB over Waikato doomed us to lose in the semi

My apologies, too. I made the same mistake and my tipping was very, very poor this weekend.
I hope there is no relegation of tipping teams .... -
@Stargazer @Stockcar86 @Higgins the better tipping team won on the day
