    Do we get excited?

Is beating St Kilda and Essendon good?

A good weekend for the Adelaide teams.

Round 2: Not everything is as bad as it seems

    Well, unless you're Carlton. Lol
Friday night the umpires picked up 4 points against the Doggies.
Saturday arvo Essendon scored 100. And lost by 10 goals to the Crows who are flying early on.
Port put Richmond back where everyone expected them to be.
St Kilda bounced back and put Geelong to the sword. And then in true Ross fashion hung on the 4th.
The AFL in its wisdom scheduled a game in Brisbane at midday in March to predictable weather. The Eagles came with a point to prove and deservedly lead a lackluster Brisbane before being predictably run over. Not all doom and gloom in the West.
North won a game by shitloads! feels like an eternity since that was said. Simon Goodwin's seat as hot as Michael Voss's now.
In the last game of the weekend, Sydney got a much needed win, as once again Freo let their supporters down. Expectations are a bitch.

Here are my categorisations of the teams from what I've seen.

Classy premiership contenders: Hawthorn, GWS, Brisbane
Could be there if they get it together: Collingwood, Sydney, Geelong
At their best, top 8: Adelaide, Bulldogs, Gold Coast, Port Adelaide
Could make the 8, could blow up completely: Carlton, Melbourne
On their day they can beat anyone but won't make the 8: North, St Kilda, Essendon, Fremantle, Richmond
Not great but better: West Coast

I said before the season to my wife that the team with the most blow-up potential is Melbourne. The smell of the Petracca stuff is lingering, as is the Clayton Oliver saga. Now they've been pumped by North and Goodwin has eluded to off-field issues with Max Gawn.

Feels like another bad loss and they are right in the gun.

Carlton at least showed up on Thursday. Vossy is in the hot seat but there was effort there against a very good team. Tactically they are very limited though, just bombing it in to the forward line at every chance regardless of who is there or what is happening.

There's too much talent on that list for them not to content. They looked good on Friday in a game the Dogs were up for.

Didn't watch a minute of football this weekend, but based purely on result and social media chat:

    Good
The Sunnies winning in Melbourne is just another little hump for them to get over.
Saints winning a game they should win
Hawthorn 4-0 and beating a premiership rival
The Lions are not playing great footy but are 3-0
Adelaide are flying, and suddenly them hosting the Suns is game of the round

    Bad
Carlton are 0-3 despite leading for the mojority of each of those games. Talkback lines in Melbourne are hilarious.
Its fallen apart at Port Adelaide.
It has worse than fallen apart at Melbourne, this is a full-blown disaster.
Richmond beating Carlton seems a long time ago already.

Saints have officially left the VFL sphere and entered the AFL realm. We actually have a gameplan between defensive 50 and forward 50 lines.

The AFL season is far more interesting when one of the big supporter clubs is under pressure like Carlton are now. All the experts dissect and over analyse. Commentators and journos try to out hot take each other. The drama is hilarious, but opposition fans who love to hate said big club, just eat it up and the machine feeds itself (hence why there are so many AFL shows on the TV it’s not even funny).

why do the AFL keep giving this dogshit club primetime games every week? They've won twice since the middle of last year, against the two worst teams in the AFL. Fuck them off to the twilight sunday fixture already.

OK, i was a little harsh on Collingwood, their experienced champs are still really fucking good, and they have a couple of ridiculously damaging young talents. Pendlebury was too smart for Carlton last night, played the conditions perfectly.
