Was Cashmore only for this season?
Yeah, we don’t need him with Cameron, Godfrey, Harkin and Love in the squad though. Better to focus on signing outsides, especially wingers for next year.
I think we will re-sign Clarke but not sure about Banks and Sinkinson.

I can now name the player I mentioned in the 2025 Canes thread that was working to get out of his contract for next year - the request has now been granted.
Peter Umaga-Jenson will be leaving and heading off to Japan. By all accounts the Hurricanes and NZR were really good about it.

Fair play to him, we are flush with midfielders. Good on him, take the money and run son. Enjoy Japan. Hopefully he still plays for Wellington in the NPC.
Have updated the squad above. Highly like Jone Rova will be his replacement.

Thanks for the news.
Lauaki is a great signing, ensures we have two quality tight heads and one on the way to being one.
Poliko must have impressed in training as he didn't play a minute this year.

Munster fan here- hard luck on the weekend against Brumbies
There’s talk that Brad Mayo will be coming over to be our head of S&C, have you guys heard anything ?

Will be pretty interesting to see what the strategy is with Love, Godfrey, Harkin & Cameron on the books. Throw JB in there and theres a fair bit of competition for the 15 Jersey (assuming its Cameron/Love for the 10 jersey). Gotta feel for Godfrey, he was looking pretty sharp those first few games (with an out of form team around him), with Love and Harkin getting a more in form forward pack and centres combination

We need to move on from Cameron. He's not a counter attacking threat at all and he showed against the Brumbies he's very tentative carrying the ball to the line, as well as on defence.
I'd like us to continue giving minutes to Love and Godfrey next year, with Barrett and Harkin sharing the 15 duties. I think Barrett will switch between 12 and 15 quite a lot next year, with Higgins demanding selection at 12.
-
@Canes4life It's a wealth of talent alright. Good for the Canes I suppose, but I think bad for some individual players and NZ rugby if someone like Higgins is blocked from game time by Jordie. I'd agree about moving Cameron on - he's a good player, but if you are going to use Love as your primary 10 (which they clearly should) and base your game plan around that, then Godfrey should be the bench guy as he fits that plan better, is younger, and covers fullback.

Cheers, what’s he like. Do you guys rate him ?
Is Jamie Mackintosh signed up for next year, Munster/Clayton also due to appoint a forwards coach.

Great news. Keeping Naholo would be awesome. Fehi had a pretty decent first year. Good to have depth on the left wing. Hopefully Naholo signs.

The excellent (and independent) Wellington club rugby website is reporting rumours that the WFRU might have sold it's 50% stake in the Hurricanes to one of the guys behind the NZCIS based out in Upper Hutt
See about the 10th or 11th note in the below link for word of this

Is that their entire stake?

@canefan The Hurricanes are owned by the Wellington Rugby Football Union (50%), the offshore investors Y11 Sport & Media Group (34.38%), Coastlands chief executive Richard Mansell (12.5%) and Horowhenua Kapiti Rugby Football Union (3.12%)
They were bleeding money like there was no tomorrow and being cash strapped themselves the WRFU might not have had any other choice
