hi when do they name these or have they already for super rugby

Going by the number of players in the squads that were announced on 2 November, these squads already include the WTG players. They just don't explicitly indicate anymore who are the players on full contracts and who are in the WTG.

These days, they're included in the initial squads. I don't think we found out specifically who had full or WTG contracts till like January last season cause I remember being surprised that Donald only had a WTG one.

@Unco The WTG players were explicitly indicated in the squad guides that were published when the teams were named on 27 October 2015, including Donald. A few later changes were due to injury.

This is the Chiefs 2016 squad guide: http://files.allblacks.com/comms/2016_ISR/2016_ISR_Squad_Naming_Chiefs-F01.pdf

Really? Huh, I guess I mixed it up with something else. I'm guessing there's no 2017 squad guides yet?

Yes, they were - just like last year - published when the squads were announced. Admittedly, only the Crusaders and Highlanders included a link on their media release. I assume the media got them, but can't be sure about that.

Is it strange that Greg PT is named as a Prop for Highlanders? Is he returning to that position and dropping the hooker position or covering both?

@Northlandallday even the blurb on in there about the squad shows him as a prop but says "A breakout year for Greg Pleasants-Tate in 2016, followed up with strong form for Auckland in the Mitre Ten Cup and will do battle with Ash Dixon and Liam Coltman for game time in 2017"

I am amazed there is no place for Alex Nankivell. He was brillant for Ta$man and has all the attributes to become a very good 2nd Five. Players not as good as him have found a way into the squads.

@Northlandallday He is still there as a hooker, even confused me that they list as a prop ( although he is capable pf playing in all 3 positions across the front row). Training hard and looking forward to the season.

@baldsheep cheers, good to know. So many hookers with neck injuries through mitre 10 cup. Must have been a clerical error.
