Top of the morning from Joburg. Here below a link to this morning's missive re: last night's game. Crusaders won fair and square - red card was, well, what it was and the right call (letter of the law wise). No shouting, no screaming, no bitching like little girls (NZ herald et al).

Take it on the chin and move on. Well done 'Saders - true champs in every sense of the word.

I actually wanted to post something last week about this.

I went on Stuff and the Herald, and there were four articles about the canes/lions game, three of which were classless whinge fests. We get these in sa as well, but they are rare in the msm and are balanced out with some good articles elsewhere.

Where do you find decent rugby commentary in the NZ landscape (other than the fern)?

Not expecting anyone to defend them, just looking for better options.

Tbf the weekly TV magazine show is pretty good value (forget it's name now.) so decent journalism is still there.

@SidBarret we struggle to get balanced journalism when 2 NZ teams play one another, let alone playing in hostile lands.

@taniwharugby There is a difference between balance and quality though. Everyone has their own view of things and that is fine, but what I saw in the Herald and Stuff was just crap writing.

@SidBarret well those 2 are the worst of the worst, particularly Twattue at NZH and Treason at Stuff, both in it for clicks and clicks alone, often get the impression neither of these 2 actually watch alot of the games (not just rugby) they are writing about.

Liam Napier, NIgel Yealden can both write some good stuff, as can others, but the overall quality of our journos is lacking.

@SidBarret I don't watch or read anything in NZ sports other than very basic news (team namings, injury updates etc). I'm far better to spend my time reading opinions here than wasting my life reading the tripe that is put on our mainstream media.
