Fatbusting: MvJ's log (a blob's blog)

Day 9-- best day yet <br />
<br />
MvJ has absolutely spanked it today:<br />
<br />
30 minutes on the exercycle<br />
Power walk to work<br />
Ham sambo for lunch, with some grapes and fruit and shit<br />
Power walk home<br />
Run<br />
<br />
Even took the stairs up to my apartment. <br />
<br />
That's my best run yet; I actually finally completed the course I've been trying to do for a week without stopping. 20.57 it took me, would have been quicker to crawl, but MvJ is very pleased. -
Yes; I'm conning myself into thinking that the sprinting bits will be counter-balanced by the standing around bits. No trials this weekend thank Christ.<br />
<br />
Refereeing is exactly like playing though; you can train all you want but you need matches to get match fit. Preferably matches played in knee deep mud without Islander backs tearing it up from their own 22... -
Day 10<br />
<br />
30 minutes on the exercycle this morning, power walk to work. No coffee or tea all day. <br />
<br />
Jesus fucking Christ I have been grumpy today. My secretary called me a fluffybunny, which should have been an indication. She has also requested that I go back on the coffee, pies, chocolate, coke, burgers etc etc and immediately. <br />
<br />
In between behaving like a prat at work I have had to correct some posters in the Sports Talk Forum, in a manner which reflects my current state of mind. -
Day 11<br />
<br />
I have been gently dissuaded from fully and properly informing you Red Bull, probably with good reason. Us Moderators are a sensible bunch, even those other than me, by and large.<br />
<br />
Anyhow, MvJ had 2 beers and 2 glasses of wine last night and was more off his tits than Lee Grant after one of his 4 litre casks of wine. So the exercise / diet must be doing something. Shame I followed it up with a Chinese meal and another failure to convert a young slapper. At least she paid. <br />
<br />
I think it might be my haircut. <br />
<br />
I have drunk a shitload of water to try to abate the hangover. It was quite impressive how thirsty I was. Normally I could knock back most of a 2 litre cask and just have a half a glass of water in the morning. <br />
<br />
I was back on the exercycle this morning, hangover notwithstanding. I clocked 27.43 for my regular "cycle" and am very pleased with that. <br />
<br />
Sadly MvJ is off to a referees meeting tonight so the only exercise this evening will be boxing in the event I am sitting near Ayoub. -

<br />
Sounds promising - if she pays she might be interested enough to go again? :nta Did you, as a gentleman, insist that you pay or at least share?<br />
<br />
Last time a chick paid for my dinner and drinks it was Mrs the Aussie before she was going out with me - I was poor and going on leave interstate the next day and after a few she hit on me. As unlikely as it sounds that's true and here we are 8 years later... -

<br />
No. As a gentleman, I told her it was an excellent idea and handed her the bill. -
No. She stopped drinking after she threw up, so I was pushing shit uphill from that moment on...

Hey MvJ,<br />
<br />
Just a quick point on weighing yourself etc... if you're upping your exercise (esp weights etc) you'll probably put on weight before you loose it. Muscle weighs more than fat so you go up in weight, then as the body gets used to doing more work it'll start to drop (thats the fat going). Once you've added or toned existing muscle it'll keep burning off fat even when you're not exercising... I think thats the argument for doing light weights in addition to cardio even if you don't want to bulk up...<br />
<br />
Once 5-10 kegs have dropped off I'd advise not worrying about weight and focus on how your body is looking and feeling - nothing worse than having a primo week of exercise only to find out you weigh 1-2 kegs more than you did at the start of the week!! <br />
<br />
maybe you should suggest a joint areobics session with some of these lady friends of yours!! -

<br />
Cheers, I'm resigned to the fact that I'm actually putting on weight right now. At the moment I find it quite amusing and ironic; hopefully it will stop soon though! It's been a fairly dramatic 10 days or so, what with the complete diet change and some pretty hard-core exercise sessions. So if I can just keep plugging away there will be some results soon I hope. <br />
<br />
For the most part I'm enjoying it; it's definitely easier with the other Fatbusters also publishing their diaries online and stuff. I might even try Mrs NTA's recipe <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /><br />
<br />
Welcome aboard Paekakboyz and thanks for your contribution. -
Hey Miller, found another benefit to laying off the alcohol - I'm saving a small fortune <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
-
See? Now those wonderful pounds sterling actually mean something <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
-
Thank you for mentioning alcohol again Kirwan, just the reminder I didn't need <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

Cheers MvJ.<br />
<br />
I've had a fair old wrestle with the weight also - esp post school when sport seems to get overtaken by booze and other distractions!!<br />
<br />
I've gotten down from 107kg (and a frontrow position) to 96.5 kg and a return to the outside backs (thank god!)<br />
<br />
I had never enjoyed running (like many TSF'ers) and only found out a year or two ago that I had flat feet (which explained sore knees and lower back)... got some decent running shoes and concentrated on running on turf (stay away from road running if you're carrying a bit of weight - grass is far easier on the knees etc) and low and behold no pain and I actually started to enjoy it!! (Â :idiot2: sick isn't it!!?)<br />
<br />
Given that I'm a similar body shape to Piri Weepu (ie short 175cm and broad) I've had to work hard to keep the weight down (not get too bulky via weights etc) and avoid that damn front row! -
wouldn't mind his paycheck but no...<br />
<br />
I've been aided in my devotion to fitness by being deadset on escaping the frontrow this season!!
