Northland v Magpies
-
Please take note Northland RFU white numbers are almost invisible to read on a Cambridge blue jersey. In the meantime HB scored sixth tackle type try after Ihaia West grubbered it through. The Northland defender had an airshot trying to ground the ball and C Vaenga dived on it for the try After 25 minutes the score remains Northland 07 - 07 Hawkes Bay. Notably Peter Breen has fluffed two penalty kick from reasonable distance out but close to the line of the posts.

Where was the penalty for Vaega being held back after that break by West?
-
Hi there '86, did you catch the Bathurst classic races? There were some gorgeous cars there racing including a couple of early seventies Mustangs and some real nice early 70s Falcons, even a couple of Chargers and what looked to be VJ Valiant and another that might have been a Valiant Pacer amongst others. On the other side there were also a number of Holdens!
-
@stockcar86 The ref missed more offending by Northland. And also, why re-setting the scrum after scrum when Northland takes it down, and penalising the Bay after just one mistake by Long?

Been working today, so seen no tv until 1/2 hr into Magpie game

Oh dear, looked a good try in live viewing to me but definitely a knock on. However the blue player dived onto the black players legs whilst both players were sliding on the ground before reaching the ball thus could justifiably be deemed to be a penalty try in my books.

Sky can fuck off with these interviews during play

Oh well at least we have the consolation of keeping the score well below 50, not that that is too much to be chuffed about. Fortunately there is just the one more game to go and I see the HBRFU are advertising tickets for the Lowe and Chapman stands at $7.50 for that game against the 'Poo next Sunday afternoon. Can anyone recall when the last time we lost to that mob at home was?
-
@higgins The last time we played them at home (in 2013), we beat them 45 - 18.
In 2009, we won 35 - 30, and in 2004, we beat them 44 - 12.
In all other years, we played them in Palmerston North (I think, but only had a quick look on the Mitre 10 Cup website).
I can't find info about the years before 2004. -

1985 at Hastings, lost 15-23 (non-championship)
Manawatu were first division ... and we weren't ....
Is that the game that Geoff Old poleaxed Peter O'Shaughnessey by the goalposts down at the scoreboard end of the ground and got himself red carded (or should have if he didn't)? My memory is letting me down on that particular unsavoury incident.

There's just one thing I really didn't get and they've been doing it all season. Why, oh why, did West and Weber kick the ball away all the time? Why give away possession? There were opportunities to run the ball!
And Jason Long is really not up to it. He's the weakest link in the front row. We need to recruit an experienced and strong LH; that will be much better for Farrell, too. I hope that they'll give him his first start next game.On the other hand, again a really good game from Mikaele-Tu'u and Emerson. I wish a SR team would pick up Mikaele-Tu'u; he has so much potential!
And although I hate to admit it, Cardiff Vaega keeps making his tries. Lamborn and Lowe were not bad either. Lowe wasn't right all game, bothered by his crook ankle. You could see that from the start and it stopped him from running now and then.
I wonder for how many years they signed Nick Palmer. Hopefully, only for this season. We need another good lock, esp with Allardice and Cridge injured all the time. I even don't know whether Allardice is signed for next season. Damn, come home Dom Bird!

Nick Palmer must have a fantastic highlights reel that his manager used to get him a contract as I have not seen much that would recommend him as a Mitre10 Cup player let alone a Super Rugby Player. I suppose that could be another pointer why the Warratahs are so shite.

It must be the coaches tactics to kick the ball away. Its like Philpott has one tactic coaches what he knows, not towards the team strengths (which appears NOT to be broken play defence)
