So that's Ben May, Michael Allardice, Geoff Cridge, Gareth Evans, Sam McNicol, Richard Buckman out - all current Super Rugby players.

Add in Brendon Edmonds and Andrew Horrell, and that's half a starting fifteen.

The Magpies need to be more disciplined than previous games, considering Peter Breen's excellent kicking this season. That midfield combo of Ranger and Goodhue is going to be a big challenge with Buckman out and Lowe maybe not being 100% (not sure how bad his ankle was last week and what caused it). With two locks from our development team, the second row is also going to be a weak spot for us. Our injury list has become longer again this week. I'll try making an update of our injury list again.

So indeed, new injuries to Buckman and Cridge, and an aggravated old injury to Allardice. Six of our Super Rugby players are injured. We're doomed. Again.

I posted an updated injury list in the the Magpies 2017 thread.

the Mitre 10 Cup preview says Buckman is being rested...

Michael Allardice (rib) and Geoff Cridge (shoulder) are the latest in a fairly packed Hawke's Bay medical ward, while Richard Buckman has been rested to allow Pasqualle Dunn a rare start at second five-eighths.

@taniwharugby They've had it wrong before. According to our local paper, Buckman was meant to start at fullback this week. I'd hardly call that resting. They say he suffered a leg injury at training this week. Although they're not flawless either, I tend to believe that more than what somebody writes for that Mitre 10 Cup website. Cridge also doesn't have a shoulder injury, but a knee injury. Out for 12 months, apparently.

@stargazer wasnt saying it was right or wrong, just thats what they said.

Pretty much sums up the quality of most of the stuff we get in the media these days, opinion and speculation.

Not long to go guys, just finished my pre-match buildup with couple of practice waves of my flag and a got my jersey tucked into my shorts. Sadly the fridge hs only a couple left in it so will have to pace myself. Surely today will be better than what we have seen for most of the season so far?

Haven't noticed it in previous games but have Northland worn those milk bottle like socks all season?

Please take note Northland RFU white numbers are almost invisible to read on a Cambridge blue jersey. In the meantime HB scored sixth tackle type try after Ihaia West grubbered it through. The Northland defender had an airshot trying to ground the ball and C Vaenga dived on it for the try After 25 minutes the score remains Northland 07 - 07 Hawkes Bay. Notably Peter Breen has fluffed two penalty kick from reasonable distance out but close to the line of the posts.

Solomon Alamaio makes mincemeat of an attempted tackle by a HB midfield back to scamper the best part of 60 metres to set up what should have been a try but for a number of penalty infringements by HB

Only delays the inevitable with Northland scoring from the resultant tap penalty. Just before halftime Northland 17 - 07 Hawkes Bay

Where was the penalty for Vaega being held back after that break by West?

Hi there '86, did you catch the Bathurst classic races? There were some gorgeous cars there racing including a couple of early seventies Mustangs and some real nice early 70s Falcons, even a couple of Chargers and what looked to be VJ Valiant and another that might have been a Valiant Pacer amongst others. On the other side there were also a number of Holdens!

@stockcar86 The ref missed more offending by Northland. And also, why re-setting the scrum after scrum when Northland takes it down, and penalising the Bay after just one mistake by Long?

Think they have another race tomorrow so you might be able to catch that race sometime in the morning before the main race gets underway.
