Is there anyone out there in bodybuilding or just lifting weights that has issues with uneven size. I have a smaller right trap and pec along with a lower right shoulder.

Not sure if it will come right over time but it is confusing as I am right handed.

Any advice appreciated.

hey Deano, don't know about size, but my left tricep is WAAAAY stronger than my right. Thinking maybe because when i propped as opposed to hooked, it was my left arm doing the wrestling with my opposing prop, while my right just wrapped around hooker.

So anything like that maybe in your work history over the years, using one side more than the other, and how's the back going...?

My right arm (tighthead bind?) is stronger than my left and after squats/deadlifts my right hip is always sore/tight as well. Im getting into bilateral training eg single arm/leg stuff in an effort to be better balanced and work out some of my imbalances.

curls though RB, my right is still stronger than my left. I currently do lots of one arm exercise - oine arm DB shoulder press one of my favourites, and almost all my bicep routine is one arm, and dips is the only two arm exercise for triceps.
Apologies for the hijack of your thread deano!

So they still havent caught up Bart? I always assumed eventually they would iron themselves out and be more or less equal.

Deano - a couple of weeks ago a guy at my gym was explaining this to one of the "psycho" personal trainers and he mentioned that firstly changing to to 1-arm exercises and changing the way you do those for the "smaller" side will assist. For example, if your left bicep is smaller try doing DB curls at a much slower rate (ie a 3-0-2) to stimulate muscle fibres and growth. For the other side do your normal say 2-0-1 routine.

I don't think it is unusual that the fact you are right handed means your right side is different. My right arm is definitely stronger than my left and when I started lifting heavier weights (I do mainly dumb bell lifting - presses, rows, presses) my left arm appeared to be getting better gains because it was a slower movement due to the fact that I would really struggle to lift, press, curl etc the weight.

Good luck with it

Back is getting better and I will be calling you soon Bartman to do some training with you shortly.
Thanks for the advice guys. I have talked to a work mate doing BB and he has also been told to go with one arm excercise. I like the slower reps idea.

Tiime to change my routine to even things up.

Thanks

Being a cack hander it is my right side which is a tiny bit smaller/weaker but even Arnie had this problem when he was holding Sully over the edge of the cliff in 'Commando" and warned him that it was his "weak arm", obviously Arnies weak arm is still stronger than damn near anyones strong arm but you get the drift.

Interestingly I can grip quite a bit harder with my right hand as opposed to the left and I put this down to the fact it is my fretting hand ( I've played the guitar and bass for years )
