    @kiwiinmelb not sure there is "anyone of great note" this year.

    The entire game appears to be forward pressure, and Richmond are still the best at it. It makes the games shit to watch, but Richmond fans pretty freaking happy with the world.

    Yeah they seem to have an edge in fitness too over most sides , at the wide open spaces of the G they do anyhow , their running power is part of the process of breaking them down ,

    on the smaller grounds such as Sydney or Adelaide they lose that advantage , taller sides can beat them in the air , all of a sudden they can get found out

    I guess that is one thing that makes AFL a bit unique for us guys from rugby backgrounds , probably compared to all other football codes as well ,

    All the fields are different dimensions , like Cricket ,quite odd really

    Western Australia have done the smart thing with their new stadium and replicated the dimensions of the MCG

    A one match ban for this tackle.

    AFL advocate Jeff Gleeson QC argued that Naitanui, a much-bigger player than Amon, had a duty of care when he laid the tackle.

    Worst decision ever. And on the back of a guy the other week electing to bump, knocking a bloke out, and getting off. Farcical.

    So in the eyes of the MRP we have done a complete 180, the bump is back, and tackling is out. And don't be the bigger bloke.

    Everything in the initial report is wrong, to then get a suspension is just astounding

    Silly fucking game no one is interested in...

    Flicked on to this occasionally. Saw we were 20 points up. Then fucking 20 points down. With 4mins to go. Gave up. Flicked on to Fox news and we lost by 1.

    May as well have lost by 20.

    Fuck.

    @booboo Port's first win in that fixture for a long time. That one hurts aye?

    2nd week in a row, Lions play in a thriller, kick a score. And lose.

    What hurts more is Carlton, who are shitter than us, got a win. Fucking Bombers.

    Getting a little sick of hearing about our "future" and how we have a lot to look forward to. My very real fear is our guns will get poached home to Victoria before we ever get to properly climb the ladder. It's hard to maintain hope sometimes.

    That was a good comeback by the Lions. For a while in the fourth quarter I thought their momentum would carry them through. Thankfully others in the squad are stepping up so our stars don't have to play brilliant games week in, week out.

    Two huge wins to the Dees the last two weeks, and 5 or 6 on the bounce now. They're fantastic to watch and could be genuine contenders but need to atone yet for a couple of bad losses earlier in the season before I get really excited. Might sound odd given they're in third spot but they've still been inconsistent in quality of performance and I'd love to see them knock over West Coast, Richmond or Sydney but we don't get Richmond again in the regular season and the others are back to back in August. Pity we don't get a revenge shot at Hawthorn either.

    This time of year is mostly about trying to bank the points ,

    It appears to be between west coast , Richmond , Melbourne at this point in time , but September is still along way away , think we will see a few more twists and turns yet .

    Nat Fyfe suspended for a week. By all accounts was leading the Brownlow. Watch him poll less votes for the rest of the year to avoid embarrassment on Brownlow night.

    Lions with a tough loss on the weekend, well beaten in the first half by North, and lost 3 of our best players. 2nd half fight back was actually pretty impressive for a very young team facing those circumstances. We now have the drug cheats, and i would have had us a chance if Christensen, McLuggage, and Cameron were available. Now? not so much

    So much chat around the Gold Coast being a complete failure, how the AFL should cut their losses and move the team to Tasmania.

    A few points:

    They are not last, they have won 3 games;
    They lost to St Kilda basically after the siren on the weekend;
    They have only played at home twice all season.

    How do absolute basket cases like Carlton and St Kilda get overlooked for movement? They are shit. Have been shit for a very long time. Don't have anywhere near the excuses that the Suns have. And yet there is no talk of winding them up and moving them on.

    People were talking the Saints to challenge for the 8 this year, but they are just terrible. Carlton were supposed to push on for 6 wins, and yet they have gone backwards.

    Because they are old clubs in melbourne, they are guaranteed their future. They will continue to ruin the careers of high draft picks, and be a destination for players wanting to "return home" getting high salaries and also destroy their careers.

    Oh, and no one is beating the Tigers at the MCG this year, the season is basically over.

    i watched it. It was unreal. Essendon are shit. The Eagles are good. But last night? The bombers went through the corridor like they expected to win by 10 goals, and just fucked West Coast. I am loath to admit it, but it was good to watch.

    Not a great week to be associated with optus

    Essendon are capable of playing free flowing football if you allow them .

    They tried that with us early in the Dreamtime game and we strangled them ,then they folded .

    Could be just an off night for wc , most teams will have a few of those per season
