Anyone got any stats on this? Are they available anywhere?

My old joint has a decent number at the moment in Super squads (not as many as the mid-2000's perhaps), but I'm sure the large Auckland schools and also the likes of CBHS would dwarf those numbers. Would be curious to see some stats. Who'd be the leading school by current representation - MAGS, St Kentigerns, CBHS? This might be a little damning for Auckland and the Blues!

The best way of measuring it - although far from accurately - might be for Ferners to list known Old Boys?

I'll chuck mine below, but one thing which I must say niggles me is that none of them are Crusaders, or ever have been. One of them was a blatant 7th Form (whatever that is these days) poach, but counts nonetheless.

    St Bedes College, Christchurch

    Elliott Dixon
    James Lentjes
    Siate Tokolahi
    James Tucker
    Solomon Alaimalo

Nelson College has six, I think. All Crusaders! 🙂

    Wyatt Crockett
    Quinten Strange
    Ethan Blackadder
    Mitchell Drummond
    Mitchell Hunt
    David Havili

    Edit - seven...Ben May.

Last year James Lowe was on the list - next year James Marshall will be back.

So the complaint a few years back that all the Ta$man players were going to the Chiefs and Highlanders now isn't relevant? And the ones that aren't playing for the Crusaders aren't Ta$man originals anyway? Thnking Squire, Frizzell. What about Ainley?

Thinking about Christchurch schools, the only STAC old boy I can think of is Richie Mo'unga. Not sure if Hamish Dalzell was STAC or maybe Bedes actually. And I forgot Billy Harmon for SBC. Damien McKenzie was Christs College, but a poach from Southland as a senior, plus Joe Moody. Trying to think of CBHS old boys:

    ALB
    Fletcher Smith
    Josh McKay
    Will Jordan
    Tim Bateman
    Owen Franks
    Matt Todd
    Brodie Retallick
    Luke Romano

There are bound to be more....

Franks, Romano and Crotty were all born in Nelson - add in Perry, Samu, Makalio, Taufua - we're carrying you Canterbury fuckers! 🙂

Not sure where Alex Ainley went to school and a quick google doesn't tell me. Plays club rugby for Wanderers so Waimea College is a reasonable guess.

I wouldn't be surprised if there is another player as their sole rep from a non-traditional rugby school.

    Example: Luke Jacobson (Cambridge HS)

Kane Hames might be the only player from Trident HS.

    Napier Boys:

    Richard Buckman
    Gareth Evans
    Dan Kirkpatrick
    Sam McNicol
    Jonathan Ruru
    Michael Ruru?
Bailyn Sullivan (also went to Kings' College)
    Brad Weber
    Ihaia West

    Lindisfarne College:
    George Bridge
    Israel Dagg
    Tiaan Falcon

    St John's College (Hastings):
Jonah Lowe (also 2 years at Kings' College)

    Hastings Boys:
    Marino Mikaele-Tu'u
    Sam Anderson-Heather

Several players may have attended Te Aute College, but the only name I can come up with, at the moment, is Kane Hames.

Edited to add George Bridge, Sam Anderson-Heather and Bailyn Sullivan.

@footy01 I already included Lindisfarne. Forgot George Bridge; left out Renton on purpose because he's not in the Crusaders squad. For the same reason, I didn't add Caleb Makene under Napier Boys.

@stargazer Damn, that's a low number for Hastings Boys ... might improve in the next few years. Did Sam Anderson-Heather make the field on the weekend? If so he can be included.

Look at all those poaches in the Napier Boys team though. 😉
