Eddie Jones tells Japan to 'go to the temple and pray' ahead of England clash

Eddie Jones has told Japan to ‘go to the temple and pray’ as he plots a physical battering of the team he coached at the 2015 World Cup. Any doubts concerning Jones’ future have s…

    Sevearl thoughts
    Michael Leitch is just awesome
Tanaka's pass is still pretty crisp
From the other match - See Tonga had an "Owen Farrell" tackle moment , which Nic Berry awarded a penalty to Wales
Don't know what England are smoking they seem devoid of any sort of plan
Eddie Jones lloks like a pratt of the highest order with those temple comments
Japan coached by New Zealander and England coached by half Japanese Aussie - Go figure the world has gone mad!

One trusts you are aware Eddie's mother is Japanese, as is his wife, and that he has spent a good many years living there and coaching at club and national level. I would think that Eddie, a cautious man, is a fairly good judge of what can and cannot be said in these circumstances in comparison to you and me. 😉

Well aware of Eddie's Japanese links and I suspect there was more than a tongue in check element about his trash talk. He gave those remarks in response to a jouurnalist who asked him about Michael Leith's comment about Japan wanting revenge on Eddie for all the slogging he gave them. 😉

England have brought on Underhill who I think will make a difference.

England looking the better side now. The guys off the bench have raised the intensity. This might be a difficult last 15 minutes for Japan.

Most of England's backline drive a maul. Hartley over. 35-15. Three to play. England's bench gave them a physical edge and better decision-makers.

Finishes England 35 Japan 15. Farrell's leadership made an enormous difference when he came on.

England looked clueless in the first half.

Of all the teams to play without an out & out openside, Japan is not that team.

    Shit coaching.

Can someone please explain how Nowell didn't get a yellow for that tackle at the end of the match?

And Farrell not penalised for tackling the man in the air?

There is no need to say that about them for scoring a try!!! Outrageous!

The previous two games have shown that we can play a lot better given a bit of pace in the back row, so the selection was a bit of a head scratcher. A problem that is taxing Eddie I think is a third line out option. Maybe that is why Curry seems to be preferred to Underhill? But yeah, you need a 7 against the Japs alright.

Was funny listening to them trying to pronounce South Sea islander names, much the same in the Tonga match. I was wondering why I hadn't seen the name Rockonasinga in the squad.

Eddie now says his "Go to the temple and pray" remarks were designed to fire up Japan so they'd be at their best.

Watching the highlights on BBC2 and you'd swear England had beaten a Top 5 side.

Circle jerk over Farrell with the last tackle. Definitely hit the guy in the air and should have been a penalty to Japan a la Lions v NZ.

Let's hope England play the same way next week against Australia.

They have thd backs to score the tries Japan couldn't.
