Just discovered the History Unplugged podcast , loads of stuff there. Probably going to binge on the American civil war stuff for a bit
I listened to the latest one, the Battle of Britain one and thought it was pretty decent, I think I'll find ones I know nothing about to be really interesting.

Finally the full story can be told . It’s gold too
People hated it so much the cast got attacked and abused in the street
Thanks. Been having a listen while doing some tedious spreadsheet work.
What a klustaphok !
I can’t remember the show , it must have been awful though
I have no idea what the show is either, but I'm guessing the podcast is good even with knowing it?
It is good, the show was called Melody rules, the first episode is on youtube according to its wikipedia page. I can't remember it , must have been really shit to appear on worst tv show of all time lists.
That other podcast I mentioned covers lots of different stuff , if you're into history its bloody good.
When they outline the background to how it got to air, it's no wonder it was such a flop. Good listen, that podcast - I got through the series pretty quickly.
Yeah he did a great job , shame that it affected him so badly .
I still recall him doing the movie reviews with the ghastly Steven Gray on Good Morning back in the early 2000s. I always thought he was the funnier of the two (not hard), but then he disappeared and they stuck with the chain-smoking bitchy stylings of Gray.

So with the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing coming up - you have no idea how old that makes me feel? Mind you pretty much everything makes me feel old now...
Anyways BBC are heavily promoting
Caught the 1st episode yesterday. More of a scene setting thing. It's insane that in less than 8 years the yanks went from not even having put anyone in space to a successful lunar landing. I suppose throwing enormous amounts of money at the problem helped
Series focusses on the last 13 minutes before touchdown when things got really dicey and lots of things went wrong. Course we all know the ending but worth a listen for any space nuts

@dogmeat sort of linked, i went to a NASA exhibition in Brisbane that was pretty great. A lot focused on the early days of the space race. One great bit was some models, and just the audio of the landing played on a loop. Still gives you tingles listening to it "the eagle has landed"
-
@mariner4life It was piped through the sound system at school. I don't think any class did any work that afternoon.
Then ran home to watch the TV pictures that had been rushed across the Ta$man.
Half the Herald the next day was devoted to the story. They published a magazine on the mission which I bought for (I think) $1. Herald was 5 cents in those days.

Is that the one at the museum? Might pop along at some stage to fill some time, cheers!

I use Podcast Addict, but don't know if it's on Apple. I tried to switch to Stitcher as it tends to have slightly more content (especially if you pay for premium) but I don't seem to miss out on a lot. I found the controls/functionality in Stitcher to be really shit.

The Countdown podcast goes through the 10 most dangerous situations in the US space program (excluding space pirates). Some ended well, some didn't. Great research and production values on this series

Podcast Addict does the job for me too.

Can you get podcast addict on an iPhone?
Stitcher is a very average setup , it does have a decent selection though
Yeah think I tried to get it for the other half but it's not there. Overcast might be worth a try?
I like PA as once I select a podcast to play I can get it to play me the rest in the series I haven't listened to, as well as download new, delete played, etc. I couldn't seem to figure out how to get stitcher to do these simple things.
PA is a bit of a bitch for creating playlists though. Or maybe I'm just a numpty.

@Stockcar86 freakanomics has just uploaded a podcast up about 23 and me

I can’t get stitcher to save my searches if I leave the app so I’m clearly a numpty too

I use Overcast. I don't know why Apple updated their podcast app to make it basically unusable. Overcast is basically the same as the the iPhone one was when it was good.
I didn't know there were other apps with more content, but I struggle to keep up with the stuff I want to listen to now. I've basically given up on any new True Crime style ones now.
I've just started the writer Michael Lewis' podcast about 'referees' - not really about sport but within the general world. I think it's called Against the Rules. And I've found History Unplugged again (I listened to an episode or two a few years back and then forgot about it) which has a great and long back catalogue now!

yea, it's not too bad. Some interesting stuff. And it's just great to follow the story along.

I listened to a good podcast about DNA testing, especially good when they discuss the limitations/accuracy etc - I think it was on Reply All.
