I don’t know anything about the Blues, except that the city has supported that team through some very lean times for a very long time, and for that reason alone I have always liked them. Excellent fan base, I hope they win it, but I fear they probably won’t, simply because those Bruin vets have won it before and have had a long rest. I understand that the Bruins scheduled an inter-squad game this week with real NHL refs to stay fresh and prepare for the Cup final, and have sold a lot of tickets.

I wouldn't call myself a "fan" as such, as i have less than a passing interest in it. But, back at uni, when Sky Sports just showed ESPN during the day, we used to watch hockey, and i sort of adopted the Blues as my side (fucked if i can recall why)

    So, yay team?

Same! But my team was the Bruins and the only reason I was the Bruins is someone liked my cap in the pub and asked to swap and I agreed and it happened to be a Bruins cap. I was stoked as no0one had one like it.

Ask me to name one player in the history (Current or otherwise), I couldn't. But go Boston!

I’ve always liked the team jersey, one of the very-very few post-Original Six uniforms I do like. Most of them are pretty awful, whereas the classic Original Six kits are easily some of the best team sporting uniforms in any sport anywhere. Blues is probably pick o’ the rest.

Bruins uniform is awesome, I must say. Love that stylized “B” with the spokes.

Cough! Probably the greatest player who ever lived — Number 4, Bobby Orr.

    What Bob Mitchum says.

When they talk about the greatest player in hockey history, there’s usually only four names mentioned, chronologically:

    Gordie Howe (Red Wings)
    Bobby Orr (Bruins)
    Wayne Gretzky (Oilers)
    Mario Lemieux (Penguins)

For shits ‘n giggles you could throw in a 5th, it might be Jean Beliveau (Habs), but it’s those four. Seems to depend on generational consensus, but those who’ve seen ‘em all swear Orr is still the best, no other player single-handedly changed the sport the way he did. He could do it all — best offense, best defense, best skater, and could drop his gloves and destroy anybody in a fight. That settles it for me.

And while I’m on the topic, the most famous photograph in hockey history is of No. 4 milliseconds after he scored the goal that won the Cup the last two times these teams met in a Final (and for the Blues, the last second they were actually in a final, almost fifty years ago).

Hate both teams, hope no one wins.

    Like the Gloria song though.

@Salacious-Crumb That sequence leading up to the Krug hit was excellent.

The Blues win a Stanley Cup Finals series' game for the first time in franchise history. Pretty good work by that Russian dude and those Canadian guys.

The game winner was an excellent slapper, a one-timer on a delayed penalty, by defenseman Carl Gunnarson - from Sweden. He put it past Bruin goalie Tuukka Rask - from Finland. Top skill from the Euros.

Bruins beat Blues hard on Saturday, 7-2, to go up 2 games to 1.

    Game 4 goes tonight...

With an assist from a ref’s missed call, the Blues win Game 5 in Boston, now headed to St. Louis with a 3-2 games lead and a chance to win the Cup at home.
