Feeling 100% again and normal transmission has resumed. Can't find a good rope anywhere near where I now live so have had to go up and down the firemans pole instead #nohomo.

I'm sure I speak for all of us when I say I despise being a little bit crook and being unable to get out and do stuff. Frustrating as fuck. It took me nearly three weeks to completely shake but I didn't help matters by having a few drinks and not taking any time off work. Too busy.

Has anyone ever done indoor rock climbing ? something I want to give a go and might take the boys in the second week of the holidays when they're back from down south. I reckon this will be something we all enjoy heaps and obviously good for the strength and flexibility. Youngest son being of a much more stocky build than his big bro might struggle a bit but I'll be a good encouraging Dad and build him up !

Not done rock climbing, but went to one of those Ninja Warrior places and that was great fun. Any obstacle course type thing is cool.

The best exercise/fun thing I've done with the boys (and which I'll be doing again in September) is aqua park:

aqua splash coolum - Google Search

Absolutely drills you but is so much fun. Could do that shit every day. Has some mega climbing walls as well.

Looking at taking the boys tomorrow or Saturday depending on timing etc. They have a few playdates lined up, oldest seems to have his eyes on a darker girl. Christ son, don't make the mistakes your Dad did hahaha !

Popped down for a workout at the school, dips, pole climbs, chins, explosive lunges, and the like. Nice and fucked after a short but intense session. Might bite the bullet and have a look at joining the Powerhouse gym down the road from me ( I'm sure @Paekakboyz knows the one ). They have stones, proper ropes and tires to flip. My Scottishness might prevent this though. Sex, haircuts, petrol and parking are things I don't pay for and I'd hate for working out to leave this list.

Usual stuff, nothing much to report. I did take my boys Rock climbing but I wasn't allowed to go cos turns out you need a grown up down the bottom to "do the ropes" so to speak so that was disappointing.

What wasn't was seeing my boys improve each time they went up, knowing you have the safety harness is great for their strength and co-ordination. Absolutely certain oldest boy nailed one particular climb just cos some girl was watching. Youngest got close to the top then freaked out a little bit ( understandable on a 13 metre wall ). He says he'll get there next time.

I've also introduced box jumping much more into my routine, strangely enough after the first session my back hurt most of all ?!?! ( as well as legs, midsection and arse ). Definitely a cool fun workout that will hopefully improve my flexibility as well and speed and explosiveness.

Being a functional/strong Dad and a good example to my sons, busting out impressive power moves to impress my contemporaries, being able to waste my friends/co workers in feats of strength, being one of the first names mentioned when it comes to lifting heavy things, Making impressive tinder videos ( yes these are a thing now )......

    Shall I go on ?

Good god man, I'm slightly triggered that you of all ferners even questioned this.

I wish you hadn't, however it was better than the possible alternative answers.

No, @Rancid-Schnitzel you shouldn't have dared to ask.

It's mainly just very short clips.

Have you ever seen a chick with dog ears and a big tongue through the filter app? it's just ADORABLE and not the least bit annoying. I want to marry one of them.

    Bump......

Ironic I should say that as that’s exactly what happened when a couple of 20kg plates slipped off my back during weighted push ups and rolled into a mirror smashing it into a million pieces.

I didn’t even finish my set either.

Despite not updating this thread for over a year I have actually been working out, my boys tried to get some fitness app to track my progress but I prefer pen and paper.

Well despite not updating this thread for nearly a year thankfully I can report that it hasn’t been a year since workouts……..everything I’ve done lately has been noted down on pen and paper and basically consists of something physical almost every day.

Basically a rotation of push ups ( five different variations at last count ), explosive jumps ( two different kinds ), chin ups, rope climbs, shadow boxing, hitting the heavy bag, tire flips, Hitting tires with a sledgehammer ( great for power, conditioning, coordination and fitness ) and ( especially over lockdown ) big walks in the hills…..but in terms of conventional “weights” as such there has been fuck all.

Swiiming and running have not entered my workout routine at any stage either but I’m feeling pretty fantastic and doing all the above is never a drag which I think is the main thing. In terms of food I’m intermittent fasting most days and getting loads of lean protein ( supplemented with protein bars and shakes when needed ) and vege while trying to ease up on the bread and carbs. Best of all I can still manage a few lovely craft brews ( my only vice ) or a glass or two of red and not feel too bad.

I might even update this thread more than once a year.

That hitting tires with a sledgehammer looks cool. Even chopping shit with an axe is a great workout.

I love it and being Scottish the best bit is it’s free once you fork out for the hammer.

There’s a bunch of old tires down near the beach so now that lockdown is over I drive there and give them a big smash ( understandably walking with a sledgehammer is not a good look so I didn’t do it for a few weeks ).

It would definitely be my new favourite exercise, just be sure to start the swing with one hand near the head then bring them together down the bottom for full power and range of motion.

Old school training at it’s best !

Busted out 3 x 15 of these this morning. To say the triceps were burning is an understatement, these are tough to do with good form. They should compliment other chest stuff nicely. Definitely pays to film yourself to make sure the arse isn’t too high or low…….it’s amazing how just a subtle change can make push ups that much harder.

Have already packed the sledgehammer in the car to smash some tires later this avo too while out towards the beach.

After a morning plank of 5 minutes and a lovely hill stroll with the girl I decided today was a good day to head to the park and do some sledgehammers and chin up variations. Started with the sledgehammers at first ( ensuring I did the same number of left and right sided swings, no one wants muscle imbalances after all ) and finished with some double overhand swings. Holy fuck, these destroyed the forearms like nothing else ( bear in mind I’ve done rope climbs, heavy grips and deadlifted 230kg without straps back in the day ). Fuck me, forget the chins, even steering the wheel on the car after was tough enough let alone hanging onto a bar…..

Why didn’t I discover this terrific exercise years ago ?

On the road for work so doing a bit of a hotel workout. Big walk down the main drag and back then shadow boxing and multiple sets of the tricep extension push ups. Right elbow ( I’m left handed ) tends to flare up a bit and get sore after doing these so I’ve Deep Heated the shit out of it and hoping it takes care of itself. Getting old sucks arse.

Started the morning with some Sonny Liston kick jump squat type things.

3 x 15 of them, great to get the legs absolutely burning if you do them right. Also did sets of chins at the shitty hotel gym, 2 x 12 then 1 x 10 as it’s been a few weeks. Made sure the ROM was decent on these. Right elbow still giving me grief, not sure if the Deep Heat is genuinely helping or if it’s a placebo ?

Pretty much ended up doing the same workout two days in a row just to give the muscles a bit of a shock. Planks in the morning ( I really must look up more variation on these ) followed up by sledgehammer smashes in the avo. These are feeling awesome now, today was about 300 swings in total and the forearm pain from the first few times is basically non existent now which is pleasing.

The initial unco ness on the right ( weaker ) side is correcting itself now too and the sledgehammer isn’t bouncing back from the tyre at awkward angles like it did a little bit at the start. Lungs and overall power just feel better and better each time I give these a hoon. Awesome fun !

3 x 12 ninja jumps followed by Weighted planks ( 3 x 2 mins with 20kg on my back ) for this morning. Fair to say the added weight is making them much more taxing. Weather dependant will go and smash the tyre later this avo, the issue with that of course is I can’t walk there ( and get a bit of cardio ) cos strolling along with a sledgehammer looks very dodgy.
