Vaea Fifita dropped from the ABs and the Lions in one day. You can't get much lower than that!

Is he being rested for this match or still training with the ABs?

@DrivingMaul big call, I think Wellington are starting to get it together and should be too much for Counties at home, especially with the away side coming off a short turnaround.

@Higgins @Nepia Fifita is injured, that's why he didn't feature against Canterbury last week.

@Nepia I have no idea as my concern is obviously on more important things like how to stip Faola Fakatava being too hungus against Northland than who might or might not being rested for any other team.

I'm more concerned with the forwards being hungus than Fakatava - they're the reason we only drew with Wellington (to keep it slightly on topic 🙂 ).

The Wellington Website only states that he is currently being monitored and not that injury is preventing him from being available for selection

"Utility forward Vaea Fifita, who also missed the Canterbury match, has a medial cruciate ligament injury and will continue to be assessed."

Gives us a good chance to see how the new Hurricanes halfback signing, Jonathan Taumateine, matches up against a NPC halfback that has played an international game against the British & Irish Lions, a fixture the visiting team did not win.

I quite like Counties left wing he’s small but quite elusive is it his first year in the ITM cup?

Heard Fifita got injured in the captains run last week. Some bad luck.

@Canes4life maybe you're right I just think it's the perfect matchup in that Counties are about their scrum and that's a weakness of Wellington

@DrivingMaul Just reminding you that the starting Wellington forward pack tonight contains no less than 5 super rugby players and a player with test match experience (albeit from Italy) plus a number 8 that some folk are already pushing his case to be awarded a super contract in 2020. In addition Lions coach Chris Gibbes has only very recently been appointed an assistant coach for the Hurricanes replacing departing forwards coach Richard Watt. If this amount of resource available to the Lions then it would appear that money is not being wisely spent if that amount of dosh thrown at them still results in them having a weak scrum unless, of course, the blindside flanker is the sole cause for the scrum being weak.

I’d love you to be right but Conan O’Donnell has been a big part of the strong scrum performances for CM and he’s out injured.

@DrivingMaul I think our starting front row are doing a really good job and even shunted Canterbury back last week. I think our bench is a massive weakness atm and they have nearly costed us two games. If Counties are going to strike i'd say it will be in the last twenty odd minutes of the game where they can really take the game away from Wellington if they aren't careful.

@mikey07 He's been around for a few seasons now. He was in the Auckland Bs and 7s team for a few years, but couldn't quite crack the NPC team, so moved over to Counties. He must be in his late 20s now.

@Canes4life The Crusaders pack has not been great this season so I wouldn't benchmark with them. However I'm happy to be proven wrong this evening by Wellington
