As I type that May is indeed subbed on for Waa. Hopefully that will shore things up a bit fpor this defensive scrum five metres short of my try line.

Christie takes some poor options at halfback.

    Yep, I'm enjoying his play.

@Nepia just looked at the replay of that scrum..definitely went down on Crocketts side of the scrum..immediate impact from May on the right hand side..Hawkes Bay guilty of 3 things ,Chase game has been rubbish, kicks needs to find touch from turnovers and the tackling on the big wingers on the flanks needs to be low.

Even if the fend was firmly planted on the defenders mush. Not allowed to tackle head high but you are allowed to fend a guy in the head if you are the ball carrier! Still hopefully the sea breeze might pick up a bit to favour the Magpies a bit in the second half.
    HB 14 - 19 Ta$man at the break

Yep, if that had been the Pies scrum we would have been penalised for that. Therefore penalty to us, no try scored ... real, moral score 14- all. 😉

Our first half against Ta$man has been much better than that of other teams playing the Mako. Hope we'll be the first to score in the 2nd half.

That's what happens when you play midgets on the wing.

Slow and sloppy start by Ta$man - letting Flanders score that try was especially soft. They didn't look completely up for the game.

However, the tight five have got into their work and are winning the set pieces - other major differences are the big Fainga'anuku brothers on the littler HB wings. And Nankivell is having a very good game.

We don't have any big wingers in the region currently.

And Waikato was ahead at HT. Ta$man usually finish strongly.

@Bovidae Harbour had us in trouble in the first half as well. Can't remember if they were ahead at HT, but they were close.

They should be docked points for terrible haircuts. Even with Squire out the Invitational XV still take the honours here with those two and whatever the fudge Havilli is doing with his behind perm.

It’s actually good to see Ta$man being tested ,we all know their quality in terms of personal.,Hawkes Bay are still in this, but the first 10 minutes of the 2nd half are going to be crucial ,really disappointed with the tackles out wide, yes there’s some big men out wide..but tackles need to be low..!
