Magpies v Tasman

@Chris-B I tell what you what , it’s one thing to have a team with a whole lot of names and you can see that with Auckland , they have some talent I would gladly have in the Taniwha Squad, it’s another thing getting them to perform ..and that’s what this Ta$man team are doing..also being a supporter of Shield Snorters , they should be pleased with that effort, they could have folded , but came back and scored a couple of tries ..I think there’s 2 boys in the Ta$man team who have got All Black written all over them ..Nankervill and Parkinson ..

We definitely need

Hmmm, seems I only know the chorus, might have hated Queen if I knew those two lines!

@Steven-Harris I'd add Leicester Fainga'anuku. Especially if Rieko can't get back to his old level.
-
@Steven-Harris And Will Jordan.
@Stargazer - Big Leicester is starting to look like a young Julian Savea.

@Snollygoster You can try to talk us down all you like. I think we had a very good game. Some weak passages of play, including 10 minutes with 14 men, but also some brilliant rugby. No team has scored that many points against Super Rugby team Ta$man as we have. I expected our young squad full of youngsters to get hammered much more than they were.
We'll get Evans and Allardice back for the semis., and hopefully McNicol, too Only injury concern is Toala. We'll be very competitive in the finals, also against the Steamers if we both reach the final.
I'm happy to give you the favourites tag for the final though. We perform well as underdogs. People have underestimated us all season.
We definitely need Toala back for that midfield punch, although Fomai was dangerous with the ball. Also, I'd be tempted to play Evans at 7 and keep all three of our 8's in the team.

@Nepia Yes, I'd really like to see 6. Mikaele-Tu'u, 7 Evans, 8 Flanders, although O'Connor had a good game today.
I wonder whether they'll move Ili to 12 and keep Fomai at 13, if Toala is out. If McNicol is back, where will they play him? 12? 13? They seem to see him as a midfielder, but I'm not sure which position he prefers there, esp if Toala isn't available.
-
@Stargazer to be honest I am not totally sold on the 2 brothers, let’s see what they can do at super level, we should not forget they are on the flanks of a very, very good team..
-
@Steven-Harris Leicester has shown promise; I'm not sold on Tima either.
-
@Higgins not too sure where Snolly was coming from , personally I think Ta$man would beat the steamers by a similar score..
This Ta$man team is a very good team stacked with super rugby talent and well coached ..they paid the Shield Snorters the ultimate compliment by playing a full strength team. -

I'd assume McNicol would move into the midfield, but not sure they'll play him after being out so long. I don't mind Ili but he's not any better than the local boys so I'm always happy when they play the local boys.
Yeah, O'Connor had one of his better games.

@Stargazer I don't mean to "talk you down" but I beg to differ. I thought you were shown up at scrums, lineouts, on defense and appeared to lack imagination on attack. The final few points came when the game was effectively over and Ta$man had replaced many of their topline players which blew out the score.
Don't get me wrong, you guys have a competitive team but it must be a concern to concede so many points against us and Ta$man and on that performance, the TAB odds of a BOP Championship win will be lengthening. Bop definitely has the momentum and probably has the easier run to the final. But as the Southland game showed, we are beatable. Personally I would love to see a HB-Bop final.
-
@Steven-Harris I agree, they would probably beat the Steamers. They are a good team, as I said, but HB were shown up.

lineouts
Didn't you guys have a dysfunctional lineout when we played you? (TBF, I"ve tried my best to block that game from my brain).

@Snollygoster I hear what your saying, but your talking about a Ta$man team that has 2 All Black front rowers , and All Black fullback , probably another 3 all blacks in waiting ,and probably laden with 95% super rugby talent ..against a team that has kids barely out of school in some positions still learning their trade..just remember they beat an Auckland team 40-0..and they playing roster with just as many super rugby players..this Shield Snorters team while they have a few experienced heads in May, Dixon, O’Connor and Aladice who did not play today ..are a very young team in the scheme of things..are you taking that into account ...?
