LaMelo Ball being shut down for the year. He's recovered from his foot injury, but it would take the rest of the regular season to get him fit enough to play, and the Hawks are not playing finals.

Great to see he truly embraced his time in Australia, and bought a racehorse

An under-strength Breakers beat the Kings in New Plymouth. They are hanging in there but will need to win out to make the playoffs.

And will probably need a few other results to go our way too.

Taipans bearing Adelaide helped. Need Bullets to lose and the Melbourne teams.

And the Breakers end a good weekend by thumping Melbourne Utd 90-68. The evil Wildcats in Perth next game.

I was worried about Adelaide last night but we torched them. We had the scrubs on with 3.5 minutes to go.

Race for 3rd and 4th is going to be tight.

I’d say the Taipans are safe now. Into 3rd spot and next 3 games are Phoenix, Hawks and 36ers.

Hawks have been our bogey team forever

I think we are the only club who would be happy to get Perth

When the inevitable happens, and Scott Machado is poached by Melbourne, it might be enough to break me, and I won't renew my Taipans membership.

I get the feeling this team is about to get plundered.

@mariner4life yep can’t stand Perth and Gleeson is officially the biggest whinger in NBL history.

But they couldn’t do the Breakers a favour on Wednesday night by folding against United.

Good win from the boys tonight. The 3 ball was on and Abercrombie was rocking the cradle when Randle was trying to guard him.

@ACT-Crusader it was a big win. Massive score. Some good momentum from the Breakers and bullets as they aim for the 4

I only watched 30 min highlights of the Breakers game but that was a good win against a 36ers team they have usually struggled against.

It is still going to be tough for the Breakers to sneak into 4th spot. We need Melbourne to beat Brisbane today but that also puts United a win ahead of the Breakers with the bottom 2 teams to play. The Breakers have to beat the Hawks and then Brisbane on the road, and then see where the cards fall. Brisbane does have the hardest games to play.

We really needed Perth to beat United, so it became a race between us and Brisbane.

@ACT-Crusader But they didn't. I'm happy to see Perth lose anytime. 😄

Melbourne Utd chocked against Brisbane so that now puts Brisbane in the box seat. If they beat the Breakers they will be the 4th team.

Comedy in Wollongong as a leak in the roof stops the game in the 3rd with the Breakers leading the Hawks 65-52. The NBL will determine the result of the game in the next 24 h. Anything other than a Breakers win would be a joke.

The NBL has reviewed submissions from the Illawarra Hawks and SKY Sport New Zealand Breakers following the decision to abandon yesterday’s game at the WIN Entertainment Centre.

The NBL has determined that the result at the time the game was called off with three minutes remaining in the third quarter will stand and the Breakers declared the winners, 65-52.

NBL Commissioner Jeremy Loeliger said: “As we said following the game, these were highly unusual circumstances and we had no choice but to call the game off to protect the safety of the players because of the leaking roof.

“Having reviewed submissions from both clubs, we believe it would be both inequitable and impractical for us to replay the game or complete the time remaining.

“Under the rules, over a half of the game must be completed to declare a result. Given this has occurred in this instance, we believe this is the fairest outcome and the result will stand.”

Both clubs can appeal the decision within 24 hours.

So a sudden death elimination game in Brisbane on Friday. Win and the Breakers still have a slim chance, lose and the season is over.
