@Canes4life He's still eligible for U19s this year, so it could be something as simple as his age.

What NZ U20s need is big forwards with plenty of grunt. They were demolished up front during the last two championships. From what I have seen from the Six Nations so far, France, England and Italy all have a very big pack. In the backs, the French right wing and fullback are superstars in the making (Dridi and Tiberghien).

Some good players but don’t think we will break the duck with this group. Don’t see enough game breakers across board and world class u20 players.

Article about (ineligible) prop Saula Mau, who has been invited to attend the U20 camp.

The NZU20s may get better coaching this way, but they also need better selectors.

I hope the German panzer tank gets selected. It’s kind of Hollywood movie stuff if he ends up playing for NZ.

@Billy-Tell In case you mean Anton Segner, he's not eligible for NZU20 this year.

    Why not?

@Billy-Tell IIRC it's because the residency requirement only starts to run once a player leaves school (unless his family lives here, too, but that's not the case). He was still at school in 2019.

Philpott's comments about having better kicking to play a territorial game isn't addressing the main problem. As usual, it will come down to whether the NZ tight five are competitive against the NH teams and SA/Aust.

Havila Molia is an interesting addition. He was the captain and TH prop for St Paul's Collegiate last year and I expected him to be in the mix for the NZ Schools teams. A big unit and very mobile.

An interesting article on allblacks.com today. A few names from 10 years ago that I don't remember at all.

Totally missed this announcement 11 days ago. I assume they didn't postpone it, instead of cancel it, for financial reasons?

I feel sorry for all the guys that miss out this year and won't be eligible anymore next year.

There is no NZ U20 camp so it would be hard to select a team. But I'm sure it is also a cost-saving decision with the Jock Hobbs U19 tournament previously cancelled.

@Bovidae They've had camps though; they have a group of players to select from. The Jock Hobbs U19 Tournament would have provided the pool of players for the 2021 squad, not this year's squad.

I thought there was a final camp to be held before the final selection?
