Have not been for a ride in a while - Little Aussie is staying up until 10PM some nights which just doesn't leave me enough time to get out on the treddly. Have not really been watching what I eat, yet the weight stays off. That said, I can feel my body shape going backwards a bit so its time to get back into it. Biggest problem at the moment is sleep - I'll have to give up evenings on the computer once the renovation starts I think so I can get up at 6AM and go for a ride.<br />
<br />
I helped a mate dig up his front yard and then level in some topsoil though - we kind of cheated as we had a Dingo digging unit, but it was hard-packed clay so there was a fair bit of work to loosen it up. Also nearly smacked myself on the controls of the digger when I pulled a sharp right-hander and damn near threw myself off the thing!

A quote from Happy Gilmour springs to mind here Nick: "You will go to sleep, or I will put you to sleep!" <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

He's a little bastard when he doesn't, so the late nights are sometimes preferable :shifty:

OK, given the lack of activity in the last few months, I've decided its time to abandon any thoughts of exercising at home due to family commitments, and the fact that my cheap-arse mountain bike is always fucked. <br />
<br />
Instead I'll scope out the local gyms here in the city to see what they're worth. 3 sessions per week of weights (40 minutes), concentrating mainly on the core exercises. The other 2 sessions per week will either be cardio in the gym (bike, row, run) or outdoor exercise running around Hyde Park and the harbourside...

Either that or that there's a genetic component to how props approach rules of any description.  <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' /><br />

Actually he's not as bad as a few I've seen. There are some real little bastards out there. He's got a very well developed intellect and a cheeky streak a mile wide.

Yeah right! His Mum doesn't want him hanging out with bad influences <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' /><br />

Not exactly exercise but was up on the roof for a couple of hours last night running some network cable. Lots of lifting concrete tiles and scaffolding and maneuvering my fat carcass into small spaces. Halfway there but the wall cavities are pissing me off :tickedoff:

Finished the cabling just before Christmas, and it all works! Thank fark 'cos I'm not going back up there in a hurry.<br />
<br />
But now there is new impetus for exercise on the horizon. I've been having chest pains. Nothing like heart attack symptoms from what I can tell - in fact the pain is usually not around the centre of my chest and feels a bit like when you bruise your ribs. Not a sharp pain really. I once woke up after a round of golf, having not played for years, and felt like someone was giving me a massive bear hug. Turned out I'd just not twisted my torso like that in years so it was a bit strained. Perhaps its a way I'm sitting?<br />
<br />
Anyhoo, the whole chest pain thing got me thinking, and I realise its really time to get repair the bike and get back on it, starting this evening.

The rooms I need to network have it - once the renovation is finished, I'll be moving a few computers around to the appropriate locations to keep everything out of the way. We'll have a cupboard under the stairs where I keep the server and comms hardware <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

At the moment I'm doing admin and development work for a bank - its an application that handles all the business rules and processing for domestic and foreign exchange operations. Don't really understand the way the trading works, but the app seems to make sense <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' /><br />
<br />
Cabling is just something I did because of my last job. Its pretty easy to put the network sockets in, but making the cable ends pisses me off so I buy those pre-fab <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' />

Actually the Server is just an old Pentium 3 I nabbed from my old work that runs Linux Redhat 9 - runs it bloody well too! I use it for data backup, web server development and testing, and secure remote access.<br />
<br />
If anyone can get through the hardware firewall they hit the Linux box as the next in line. I keep the WinXP machines out of the way as they're just too crappy

Sounds like a good set up,yeah i guess you dont need a super fast machine to act as a server and back up,im enjoying having this 250 gig external drive,but the internal drive is only 5 gig,and im stuck with only 256 mg of ram...need to get that up more.

Would love to switch the workstations over to Xubuntu/Kubuntu but Mrs the Aussie needs to run her work VPN under WinXP and I need to run my work VPN over IE6 :tickedoff: I'd look into VMware, but just can't be arsed.<br />
