Well made it to 1km and felt the calf tightening after a slight uphill, so turned back to make it 2km - pretty happy with that. Calf doesn't feel damaged, but definitely tight and feels on the mend. Yay!
Odd thing also in that I don't think it's swollen, but has really started to match the size/shape of my other calf over the last couple of weeks, which is neat!
I have a physio mate and a history of busted calves. He always says to stay off the hills when building back up. Go slow (1-3km), go slow, and go flat. Lots of calf raises on running days, then proper days off. No running consecutive days.
Oh and I'm really happy that you're almost symmetrical now.
-
@voodoo that's great advice, thanks. I run on UB day and leg day doesn't have anything that greatly hits the calf (just stability), so assume that's a day off? Will build in some calf raises to UB days.
I'm pretty stoked about symmetry - after doing the achilles on that side it was very noticeably not. I've only noticed since the calf strain that it's actually coming back to "normal".

Yeah, sounds fine, the main advice was that all the calf exercises he gave me (raises, balancing, stretches, anything else) , were all best done on the same day as the jogging.
Stability stuff I'm sure is fine on the off days

7km split over 2 runs yesterday, no calf tightness or complaints at all, stoked. 2nd run was about 3.7 done at 5:16 so that's definitely coming down too.
Also a good UB workout between runs. Can get through 2 sets of the 10-8-6-4-2 fairly well now with more to give.
98kg. Fucken hell.

@MN5 thanks but nah. It's early days and I feel good. Fat, unfit and happy!
Oh and cider is where it's at.
Just chuck your NZ passport in a Dropbox. You won’t be needing it.
Yeah nah cool that makes complete sense...

Sorry about that. Ferning after a few Rums is inadvisable.
It made sense to me at the time I think.

Saturday was rest day and needed. 3km couples run on Sunday with half UB workout as running late for ma's day call, but followed up with a 7km walk.
Knocking on the door of 2 sets of legs, so that's the aim this week. Couples run this morning and Bonesetta is making good improvements too, getting down to 5:40 Kms. I'll go for another late arvo, UB today before lunch and getting through 2 sets easy now so will start timing it.
Sitting below 95kg the last few days.
-
Run two - felt fantastic at 3 so thought I should kick on and push for 5.
Felt fucken horrible at 3.1.
Anyway knocked out the 5 at a 5:11 average, but bit miffed as I swear Strava told me the last km was 4:50, but then showed me as 5:25 (maybe I misheard 5:15 and stuffed up the pause/stop/finish). Ahh well, next time.

2 runs again today 3km couples this morning, had to run to pick up the car this afternoon so a new (5km) route and an absolute fluffybunny hill on the 4th km but made up for it on the 5th by doing 4:32 (ok ok slightly downhill all the way pretty much).
5:22 avg and felt a million bucks at the end. 2 sets of UB this morning done in 9:10 with a minute rest between included in that. Threw in most of a 3rd set after that too.
Feeling good.

5k Saturday, 3k Sunday, 7.5k yesterday. Yesterday was an absolute piston wristed gibbon, couple of bitch hills thrown in, I'm talking Mt Vic type steep.
Cranking the workouts. Sitting under 94kg the last few days, despite booze.
Strava has me at 51.5km @mariner4life

@mariner4life you can run drunk twice as far as I can sober. Get out in the rain, you're not @mogwai
