I wonder whether that number of weeks might be less if they had just taken him off straight away.

@gt12 Yep, I can understand why he wanted to play on, but already thought during the game that it was stupid to risk it. The coach should have had the balls to pull him. That, or they should fire the team doc.

Terrible lack of professionalism too; he's a very valuable asset that just shouldn't be risked in that situation.

@stargazer I guess the problem is the Dr is going to go on what Ardie tells him/her, if Ardie plays down the pain or seriousness then they can only go on that.

I commented at the time I hope playing on wouldn't make it worse.

So how long is it before the canes findout how long they lose Laumape for?

Why the fuck would you sign Savea until 2023. He should be a year by year case.

    These people are morons.

When are the Hurricanes actually going to announce a signing we can celebrate.

So Prinsep and Savea re-signed 'till 2023 (2 years) and Scrafton for 2022. Ridiculous that Savea gets two more years!

Several current Hurricanes may not want to re-sign because they don't get game time/starts.

@yeetyaah how the hell do the Canes as an organisation think they are going to increase bums on seats with signings like this?

I'd just like to say what a massive disappointment Avan Lee has been leading the Hurricanes from the top, he's always promised so much but he's fallen well short of the mark over the last four years.

Since Beaudy left, the only good signing we've had from outside our catchment has been Tyrel Lomax.

I think a big reason why Julz keeps getting a contract is that his old mate Cory Jane probably keeps putting in the good word during selection meetings. I can't see any other reason you would sign him for another two years.

Hurricanes head coach Jason Holland emphasised the importance of locking in experienced players as the Super Rugby format continues to develop into the future.

Holland said “All three players have shown just what it means to them to play for the Hurricanes and they continue to make a significant impact on our club.”

“Our coaching group knows the importance of having good leaders in the mix to help bring the next crop of quality Hurricanes players through, so we’re delighted these players have shown their desire to continue with us.”

No doubt they have plenty of desire to continue at the Hurricanes as their home areas did not want them (J Savea now being resident in Auckland). It is also so reassuring that they continue to show such splendid leadership in the face of adversity. Imaging how downcast the younger and better players would get without this leadership. Imaging how bad the 'Canes lineout would be without them. In fact we would probably be lucky to win a single lineout without this experienced leadership group. Last week was a shining example of what could have happened without them.
The younger brigade would probably have mistakenly taken the wind going into extra time last week if it wasn't for the wise counsel of the leadership within the team. Imaging the embarrassment of losing after starting with that advantage.

EDIT: Lucky for Marven Karawana that he is not on the team sheet for your Wainuiomata outfit for Hataitai Park this Saturday yet. I might have calmed down a bit by them but you just never know!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Either that or they're scared about Ardie being unhappy and leaving

Or they are scared about Fatima hitting social media if his contract is not extended

@mikey07 Yep. Didn't Ardie also "threaten" to go to the dark side (league), last year? Keeping Jules is probably about not losing Ardie.

@stargazer threaten is probably a little strong, he was asked in a podcast if he would ever consider playing in the NRL and he said 100%, didn’t mean he would actually ever do it. Then obviously the media got wind of it and then blew it out of proportion.

Where did this whole Perenara rumour start anyway, it’s probably just another media storm with not much else going on at the moment.
