Adam sandler movie starter pack
-
@antipodean I'm gonna get fucking hammered for this (and probably rightly so)
but
my kids fucking love the Grown Ups movies. So i watched them with them over the chrissy holidays. And you know what? if you take them for what they are supposed to be, they are surprisingly entertaining movies with a bit of heart. Especially the first one.
Also they have Salma

Little Nicky is brilliant

@machpants Adam Sandler's character in the movie The Waterboy is Bobby Boucher.
i am astounded that needed spelling out
I’ve never watched a Sandler movie in my life, and it will remain that way
How do you know you don't like them if you haven't watched any?
At least watch a couple, although don't do what I did with Zack Snyder and watch 90% of his movies because the trailers are often good.

What the what?

Next time just warn me Nicholas Cage is in it so I don’t waste time watching the trailer.
Fuck me, is this cricket EVER gonna start ?!?!?

So, watched Tenant…now in this strange situation where I couldn’t really explain the plot very well…but also really enjoyed the acting, the main Dude was good so was rob Pattinson, makes me look forward to the Batman

I don't even think Nolan can. Now that it's on whichever streamer it's on I'm looking forward to seeing it again to "look" for stuff.

@kruse you chose to watch a movie where the title actor is Bros. Oh man.
Is that who he is?
Well - he's added another string to his bow of shitty things he's provided to the world. He owes you nothing.
I never quite understood the softcore kmart punk toddler look..

Astounding plot twist: there is a ham actor in a Nick Cage movie.

Yeah, even the wife suggested we watch again after doing some reading

I saw three movies at the cinema last year. Tenet was comfortably third best.

The Wrestler
Brilliantly made low budget film about a topic I’m quite into at the moment having watched a few episodes of Dark side of the Ring. Pretty sad, tragic and emotional ( I bet so many WWE stars end up like this ) and without a doubt the best performance I’ve ever seen from Mickey Rourke. Special mention also has to go to Marisa Tomei and her nipple rings who was even more convincing as a stripper than he was as a wrestler.
4 Body slams out of 5 headbutts off the top rope.

I must have missed it when it came out but it was a good find on a cold, rainy afternoon.

just read a breakdown of Tenant...and its a pretty good story once you know whats going on....but Nolan obviously things most the of the audience is a hell of a lot smarter/more observant than i was
there was one very good critique, quite a bit of the exposition happen on the boat and the engine noise makes to too hard to hear (on my tv anyway)

1917 and Waves
I haven't seen Waves. Worth a watch?
I thought 1917 was overrated due to the technical aspect, but still a good film. I don't think either of them dented my top 10 for the year, but I could be 100% wrong. I may have rated them both higher at the time.

It’s unusual but quite a rewarding flick overall so yeah. The other half chose it and we were very short on options post COVID. Speaking of which Dune and the new Bond flick are delayed again which pisses me off to no end.
