@aucklandwarlord It was a great film, they did a great job of re-enacting it. The players looked like they got a real kick out of it too

Everything about it was awesome. The cornfields right next to it, the manual scoreboard, the past-generation looking stands. I reckon other sports could learn from this.

Obviously it doesn't have the same history as the Field of Dreams thing, but how good would it be to see something like an All Blacks test held at a really rustic and rural ground to give a grassroots/Footrot Flats feel about it?

Ohtani pitching and hitting right now vs O's. Given up two solo homers in his first inning but no hits in the second.

The Atlanta Braves go one up vs the dirty cheating Astros in the World Series. I hope the Astros go down screaming

And Braves starting pitcher Charlie Morton got hit by a ball hit straight back at him, fracturing his leg, but then threw another 16 pitches.

Good to see the Trashstros go down. Hopefully Braves sweep them.

They love those close games (assuming it stayed close, I stopped watching around the middle)

MLB season started today - about a week later than usual due to off-season lockout/new collective bargaining negotiations.

In the National League the Dodgers are the heavy favourites to make it to the World Series with the New York Mets having high expectations thanks to a big spending new owner.

In the American League it's a little more uncertain with the AL East having 4 strong teams (Red Sox, Yankees, Blue Jays, Rays) alongside the White Sox in the AL Central and the Astros and Mariners in the AL West being the standouts.

They've expanded the playoffs to 12 teams (6 from each League) and have adjusted some rules to hopefully make the game more entertaining.

The Babe Ruth of getting hit by a pitch. This guy is hilarious. Legend.

Juiced baseballs? Says there are 2.4 million baseballs manufactured exclusively for MLB every year. Manufacturer cost is $10 apiece.

So much for the regular season. Three of the four teams who won 100+ games (Dodgers, Mets and Braves) didn't even make it to the LCS. The Dodgers had the best record in MLB. Hopefully, if Cleveland does the job another of the top teams will be out. The NLCS is between the 5th and 6th seeds.

@Bovidae As a Dodgers fan I am gutted that we didn't make it through to the NLCS. Such a huge disappointment after a history-making regular season. This will certainly leave a sour taste in the mouths of the Dodgers faithful for a while. I couldn't understand Roberts' decision to pull Anderson after the 5th at all yesterday. It just didn't make any sense. Some fans are saying it's time for Roberts to go.
Andrew Friedman has got some important calls to make this offseason including whether they continue with Kershaw. Trea Turner becomes a free agent and there will be a number of clubs eyeing him up for sure but it will be whether the Dodgers can afford to keep him as he will be looking for a massive deal or if he wants to stay or return home to the East Coast.

Dusty Baker finally gets his World Series ring as a manager as the Astros beat the Phillies 4-2.
