Hooroo quietly getting fit
-
Been doing a shed load of running again now the knee is good. Gym too.

Wanted to wait a while before starting a new thread as I always start a thread with me being at the beginning of a regime but this time I thought I would start once well into the regime.

For some reason, I can run faster than I could when training for the Marathon and can run 10 K up hills at the same pace as on the flat, which never used to be the case.

New miss's providing an extra incentive too... tends to be par for the course for me though!!! <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> -

Way to go mate, look after tha knee. I have been hoeing into the fitess lately although hopefully I dont come unstruck. Im have my knee cleaned out on Friday which will put the breaks on my training. It will have a major effect on my gym work and I really need to stick to the rehab and dont eat too much shit while Im off my feet. -

Hope you have better luck with this workout Hooroo and Good luck with the op Red Beard, my knees were giving me shit and was starting to think I'd need another op on mine but they finally seem to have come right 6 weeks into my regime and now just need the bloody right heel to stop hurting to stop feeling like a cripple after my workouts/runs/Walks.

Interestingly a stopped snoring about 3 weeks back, never was much of a snorer until a couple of year or so back, so I’m hoping It's because I've already lost the weight from those years. Anyone else had a similar experience. -
Ha ha!! Since I have lost some weight I have stopped snoring too as the new miss's says I haven't snored once and I used to be evicted to he spare room all the time with the last couple of girlfriends.

I used to wake myself up snoring sometimes, it got that bad -

I also stopped snoring when I quit smoking. I do snore every now and then, dosen't bother me tho! I get a bloody good elbow in the ribs every now and then so not completely snore free. -
Up to ten k runs now and stupidly offered to take the Miss's running, so I suggested I would run to hers and then run with her and then run home. To me, she lived just round the corner but I have now mapped it out and it is 5.44k from my house! uurrggh!!

Been very good with food without really trying recently. -
good work on that food thing - I reckon it is the little things that count. Don't upsize your happy meal. One pie instead of two, or vern better, a bread roll type thing. Don't go cold turkey, just have less of the good shit!!

Perhaps you should cycle around Hooroo - you might end up running that marathon anyway eh!! -

Does a Family pie count as a one pie instead of two ?? -

Probably counts as about four! -
mate if your knee is still giving you grief make sure you're working your butt muscles in the gym.. most physios will get you to do quad strengthening exercises but the muscle on the outside of your butt is the most important as it keeps things straight.

Easy test, just look in the mirror, do a one leg squat and see if you can a: keep your pelvis level and b: see if your knee folds in or out.

if it's different on one side you've got a muscle imbalance.

best exercise is squats against the wall with a swissball holding a dumbell. High reps - low weight!

What's the weight at? we need numbers! -
Haven't checked in ages!! Will gve numbers eventually though.!!!
we'll be swapping places then, I'm well on the way up!

got off the bike at wanaka ironman, got on the pi$$ (well not entirely true spent some time in an ambo getting my heart checked after having a bit of a 'thing'.. slight caffiene overdose which had my heart going at 210 beats a minute for half an hour whilst resting leading me to believe I was having a frikkin heart attack but came right after a while.. scary tho), have stayed on the pi$$ for a month now after having surgery on my arm which has left me unable to do anything so am in the midst of a massive blowout!
hit 107 the other day.. now on no carbs to go back down again in time for getting back into doing "something". Sprog on the way is going to cut into any training tho so could be a quiet / fat year! -
One thing I am enjoying is just training for no reason apart from me. I would have never run 10k before unless I was trying to train for a particular event/distance, now I am just going for a run because i want to. Will go and do 6k tonight and if i feel like it i will do a bit more, but I don't HAVE to do anything. It's the most I've enjoyed "training" ever
Tis absolutely true. I power walked up and down Maungatautari last week and the next day I could barely walk my calf muscles were so sore, and sis (gym owner/personal trainer) scolded me for letting my calf muscles do all the work. You've got to train and strengthen those upper thigh and butt muscles to do their bit cos they are bloody lazy, otherwise all the strain goes on calves or knees or quads. -
