Carson Wentz going back to the NFC East. He's off to Washington for two 3rd round picks.
This obviously puts Colts in the hunt for a QB.
Wentz is an upgrade for Washington but he's been traded twice in 12 months.
He's solid in the season, but seems to crumble when the pressure comes on at the pointy end. For desparate teams, x thirds is probably better than any QB you'll get.
You probably won't win the SB with him, but you won't totally shit the bed in the regular season. Annnd if that's the target, he's reasonable.NFL.com has him 19th of all 62 QBs, and it's probably broadly about right. but yeah, not the sort of trade the fans will love for sure

the Colts are a nice destination. They were only a monumental fuck up from post-season football last year.

The bigger problem the Colts have is no first round pick this year so they'll struggle to put together a good draft package. This year's crop of QBs in the draft also don't look like they're ready to start in the NFL. They basically have to look at free agency. So Trubisky, Mariota, Winston and Bridgewater look like the best candidates. Honestly I'd go for Bridgewater. Colts run game and defence is solid and Bridgewater is the kind of safe QB that can't win games by himself but also won't throw them away. Then they can look to draft a QB on day 2 or 3 of the draft and give him a year or two to develop behind Bridgewater.

I do. He definitely fits into that group though. It's already been reported since the Wentz trade that Colts are interested.

The colts have a 2 and a pair of 3s then 4 day 3 picks which include a pair of 7s.
Unless the 49ers are desperate to clear the cap hit I just don't see the colts having the draft capital. I know it's the most important position on the field and all but assuming the 49ers are expecting a day 2 picks then I think the colts are better off with one of the free agents and the draft pick.

@cyclops I would suggest 49ers are desperate to clear the cap hit because they will want the cap space to sign free agents to make use of Lance's cheap rookie salary. Competition (Saints? Steelers?) may drive the price up but Jimmy is currently recovering from surgery and is injury prone so with Colts able to also include draft picks for 2023 I see them as a contender to trade for Jimmy.

Yeah that's a fair point. I wonder if the 49ers are regretting the trade for Lance in light of the Wilson trade, although the Seahawks would surely have never allowed Wilson to go to a direct rival.

The guy has his limitations. But he got close to winning a SB. And apparently he's a great locker room guy

I wouldn't be surprised if the Commanders make a call and trade Wentz + picks for Watson.There will be lots of suitors

After watching the Broncos pick up Mr Unlimited, the Chargers are making moves too.
Khalil Mack going to the Chargers (for a 2nd and 6th), teaming up with Bosa
And rumours have it that the Chargers aren't done yet. Sounds like they're signing a big name in the secondary. JC Jackson? Tyrann Mathieu? James Bradberry?
They can get all those pieces to stop the QB play in their division, but it all means nothing if they don't fix their run defence.
