The Blues have gone from having a dominant scrum last year to a scrum under heaps of pressure this year.

Saumaki was big when he played for STAC but looks huge now.

This Blues team is not a patch on last years version …there will be 20 points between these 2 teams at games end .
They look poorly coached , and defensively through the inside channels they are woeful ..if i were the Canes i would use the winger thats built like a prop around the first channel even as a decoy

@Steven-Harris yeah and this Canes team has plenty of experience lead by Higgins who debuted for the Hurricanes main side a couple of weeks ago.

@Tim yep thats definetly played a part , we never got to see many youngsters from either Harbour or Auckland because of Covid restrictions .
The reason they named the team so late , they were still looking at some kids running around in premier rugby at the start of the season ..
The also had 2 games cancelled because of covid against Harbour Dev & Northland Dev

One of the Blues U20 tries was scored by no. 14 Cephus Salavao. Remind me again, who scored the other Blues try?

Lauaki (Canes) was the starting NZ schools prop though so that helps our cause.

He looks almost too big - he is bumping off tacklers, but he doesn't look too quick. I almost wonder if we will see him transition to the loose forwards

There isn’t much patience with these young fellas. Trying to score from every play.

@Canes4life Yeah, that's why I said that they're still somewhere in-between schoolboys and senior players. Some good talent and skills, but decision-making is still a work-on.

Great kick from Godfrey. Hurricanes U20s taking advantage of the wind.

@Stargazer the players that have had more experience are really standing out with their decision making.

For anyone who's wondering: Tino Savea is not related to Ardie and Julian.

IIRC, Tino Savea is New Caledonian.
