    @Tim That's very disappointing.

Crusaders U20 setpiece is better, especially the scrum.
Generally, the Crusaders a bit better, but there are just too many mistakes in this game, from both sides.

    Still no score.

Trying to work and watch the game at the same time isn't really working.

Barbarians have scored an unconverted try. It was their TH prop Ahio.

George Bell looked to score for the Crusaders but there was a forward pass in the lead-up to the try.

Donnelly was one of Matson's assistant coaches last year so they've just promoted within.

In this first half, the Crusaders U20 were playing into the wind. We'll see in the second half how much that affected their game. Having a strong wind in the back should be an advantage for the second half. The Barbarians are bringing it to them though.

Right before half time, George Bell scored an unconverted try in the corner.

Beautiful team try scored by Nikora Broughton (Barbarians). That attack started with Blair Murray.

    Crusaders U20's defence too passive.

    Not converted.

It's weird, the Crusaders U20 team looks the better team; it's mostly handling errors that are letting them down.

That was a beautiful try to Fletcher Anderson. Really good.

    Try not converted (no surprise).

Jone Rova is a promising player. He was also the player that started the attack that lead to Anderson's try.

I think the ref missed a knock-on by the Barbarians. George Methven dives over not long after. Josh Jacomb converts.

Excellent try to Jack Parker for the Crusaders U20. Try assist from Jone Rova.

    Parker misses the conversion

The Barbarians have two 2021 NZ U20 props in Ahio and Gavigan, so it probably says a lot about our age-group props where they can look good and bad.

    2-for-2 for the Barbarians.

Terrible game management by Jack Parker.
Best on park by far was Jone Rova.
The ironic thing was most of the barbarians best players were from crusaders region. Taylor Cahill , Mitch Cox , George Methven ,Will Gaulter , Blair Murray.
Some over hyped crusaders players who played average. Fletcher Anderson , Jamie Hannah , Taya Brown , jack Parker , Macca Springer. Blake makiri was poor too.
Well deserved win for the barbarians

@chchfanatic Rova and Bell were both really good. Good impact from Calder, too.

Not sure what position Mullen played, because I think Bell played the full 80 minutes. They were both on the field at the same time.

Not sure why Makiri is in that team. Easily the worst player on the field.

Agree about Parker. Game management was totally missing.

But credit where credit is due. The Barbarians really stood up and there are some good players in that team.

I don't know how old Nikora Broughton is and whether he's still eligible for the NZ U20s, but he has shown he's worthy.

@chchfanatic Gualter looked good when he came on. I remember him from the NZ Schools games in 2019.

I think he is already 20 or would be in the Chiefs U20s again. I was surprised he didn't make last year's NZ U20s on the strength of his performances.
