@dogmeat I swear I had 10 arguments all about transmission on this website.
Trust the science boys....
I referenced studies showing no transmission differences in vaxed vs unvaxed on population level.
Also that it was more dangerous for young people under 25 to get the vax than actual covid. All since has been studied and looks to be correct.
Fuck anyone who peer pressured people to get it based on saving grandma and grandpa
I also repeatedly asked this question and was told (with great assurance) that YES the virus will reduce the rate of transmission.

It wasn't so much that, but the threat of redundancy/ job loss pressure, not being able to have your business open pressure, not being able to go anywhere pressure, not being able to visit friends/parents/people in hospital/rest homes pressure, your kids not being able to play sport pressure. The list goes on...
All these in this country were mandated.
And everyone seems to have forgotten.
I'm pretty convinced the mandates destroyed more lives than what the virus ever did - though getting impartial and unbiased data on that probably wont happen for another 10 years or so until "certain" people have left public office.
It's unbelievable.

I got my 3 shots because I wanted to keep my job and go somewhere other than just the supermarket and gas station...
I'm all for vaccination, my kids have been vaccinated for everything but when there's more risk of my kids dying from having an adverse reaction to the vaccine than what they would of covid it's a fairly easy line to draw. Yet people were pushing for that to be mandated also...

I got asked a couple of days ago if I’m going to get my four year old jabbed. I was like, for what?
Its strange how Covid is hanging on here (and in other places) in some people’s minds.
I got three shots simply because I needed them to travel.
Where is here? In NZ covid19 talk has all but dried up. As for the 4th shot, I am not interested in another dose of the original recipe with probable declining efficacy against new strains

It appears to me the only people making any noise at all about Covid are those that were anti mandates and lockdowns from the get go. Looking for some sort of justification.
I'm sure that there is also a tiny rump of henny penny's who still think that we are living on the brink of a medical Armageddon, but most are simply meh.
Personally I wouldn't be vaccinating under 12's as there is no real benefit, but I thought the stories of high numbers of kids dying from the vaccine had been discredited?

Of course people who were dismayed at the draconian lockdowns and vaccine mandates are pissed off that it turns out there was, at best, a very very weak justification for them. They shut down the entire fucking world for this, the mental health, education and economic effects of what they did will be felt for decades. And of course it's poor people who are being fucked the hardest by all of this. TBH I'm actually shocked that people would just say 'meh' to all of that.
-
@No-Quarter They are saying meh to the whole virus thing. This was in response to the comment by @gt12 that Covid is still hanging on in some people's minds.
As for the rest of your post - it sort of proves my point.
I'm definitely over all the shouty hyperbole.

IMHO the actions of our government in the first 6 to 9 months were reasonable given the circumstances.
Criticism of that period feels like 20/20 wisdom in hindsight to me. From there they have sat on their hands and failed to assess what was going on in the NH and Australia, and consequently failed to act. They are still doing it, as evidenced by the belated winding up of the traffic light system and their foot dragging on immigration in response to the severe labour shortage -

My MIL called my wife (her daughter) tonight to tell her that her sister-in-law has covid (so my wife's brothers sister)
Yeah that was confusing, sorry.
Anyway, my wife got suitably angry at the interruption, and I was very proud. Lots of "who cares " amd "it's just a cold now" comments thrown out. Good stuff.
But for some reason , some folk are really clinging to this. Still terrified of it. Still want to keep it mainstream. Still wearing masks, sanitising supermarket trolleys, not wiling to pass someone on an escalator.
Will be amazing to look at the last 3yrs at some point in the future and try to understand the psyche behind our behaviour.

So you need 3/4 shots for Japan?
I stopped at 2, really don't want to get any more. But would like to get to Japan in the next couple of years
It's just beyond stupid now. Everyone who thinks they need all the shots has now had ample time to get as many as they like. Leave the rest of us alone.
