Will be interesting to see if almost the last line in this interview is true (they want me to win the Vuelta). With the lead as small as it is, they need to lead Sepp, not take seconds off him.

    Good man Jonas!

Kuss extends his lead with Jonas as his domestique.

    Some interviews here:

    Sepp

Jonas seems very onboard with Sepp going all the way

    Roglic not quite so happy...

@gt12 Looks like TJV has realized it would be a bit of a PR fiasco if they don't support Sepp to win. I'd imagine there's lots of American cycling fans would be hugely pissed.

    Flat stage, hilly stage, finale.

With luck he should be good from here.

    Sepp wins.

The fun now will be to see if there are any repercussions with Roglic - he may want to move if he can't get a shot at Italia and the Vuelta.

And, Roglic announces that he is leaving TJV.
I wonder whether it was on the cards and that's why they let Sepp win?

    Discussion from LT here.

likely leaving cause of the merger between jumbo and quickstep.. will be 4 grandie tour winners on one team. be a few more movements

anyhoo - in more important news closer to home. Youngest took out her age group in the Nat road cycling champs last weekend.
bit of a stressed dad moment - got caught right on the line (her closest to camera) she snuck it by millimeters if the line was 10cm further she would have lost!

That’s so awesome! I take it your surname is not Pidcock, otherwise they would’ve awarded it to the other lass.

My sons mates came 1st and 2nd in U14 boys.

Do they get pretty big numbers to that event?

Vingegaard was going to beat Roglic anyway in the Giro, and in every Tour. He's the threat, not Sepp.

Really? I didn't realise he was a good cyclist.

only been involved in schools cycling post-covid - my understanding is numbers are still way down.

not easy to promote - winter sport in nz for many stupid reasons that are 'too hard' to change.

training at 5.30am in the middle of winter on auckland roads only attracts the hardiest of souls and parents who love cycling.

90% of nats attendees are from auckland, yet they do it in palmy, timaru next year - which is an absolute logistical nightmare for anyone to get families and equipment to.

Sounds like there are some challenges there, despite it seeming like there are more and more people getting in to cycling in its various forms

I'm a bit late to pick up on this news but, not surprisingly, George has left UAE and moved to Israel Premier-Tech.

As the article below notes, should give him more opportunities to ride to win - including at this week's Tour Down Under, where he looks to be numbered as the team leader.

Laurence Pithie in a rich vein of form. Finished 2nd on Stage 2 of Paris - Nice, and into the yellow jersey.

@scribe I didn't see any coverage of the National Road Race, but apparently Aaron Gate, Corbin Strong, Laurence Pithie, George Bennett and Logan Currie must have sprinted it out and finished in that order.

Finn Fisher-Black is also contending in Paris-Nice.

George did better in the UAE Tour than he did last time he rode it in 2022. Still only a modest 25th on GC, but went OK on the climb on the final day.
