Okay. Got up today and had a bacon, tomato, egg and mushroom sandwich for breakfast and felt like taking on the world.

remembering that there is a 7's parade on today in the city(starting about now) I thought I'd go for mighty big run and enjoy what ever scenery was on display... of the female kind not the rugby players!

Feeling pretty good now went up Thorndon quay, down the water front, Kent tce, Adelaide rd past the retirement home that is Athletic Park and down to island bay. That might be the norm for some guys but that's huge for me.

When I say Im feeling good I mean Im spent! Was pretty good as I met the mrs down at the beach and went for a swim. Not quite up to running back just yet so got a lift back. That bit sounds a bit poofy really...

Im determined to get fit. I got dared into doing a triathlon a year back and I was given 2 years to get in shape for it( a long time I know but given my professional schedule then it was not leaving me much time to train).

Never really got going though but this year is the year boys!!!

Gluts absolutely killing me today! Lazy day today, hit the ab thingy and just a got a 2nd hand punching bag so had a good hour play on that. The actual installing of it was a workout in its self...don't ask.

Am now going to go play some MTA with my girl.

There we go! Little over 10 km mostly flat but a nice incline going up adelaide rd.

Just got to grow some nuts and run the reverse now.

Edit: I added in the warm down circuit at the end pretty much walking around the local park so its likely under 10 km for the actual run.

But the best part about this run, specifically in summer is the beach at the end of it. Though running through the city is also good for keeping you alert. Nothing worse than a boring circuit.

well done, looks like a bell curve, elevation shows it's flat, one small hill, then down the other side

you can click on elevation and resize that window, and for even more fun, imagine you're a bird and click on fly-by video.

I reckon bart should start a thread for showing runs/rides. Whadya reckon?

Unfortunately most of my runs are on trails, so I can't use this app to map them. Actually, I just discovered how to map the terrain, without relying on roads. I'll put up my runs on the weekend.

Here's one I did when I was back in Dunedin and younger/lighter: 5.8k, just under 19m, downhill all the way

http://www.mapmyride.com/route/nz/dunedin/903126037013918659

And here's another I did, longer, hours
One thing though the exact route isn't plotted because the water front isn't mapped. So it is likely a little longer the exact way I do it.

tuesday woke up pretty crook. felt like a stomach bug at first. as the day progressed i was feeling more of a muscular pain in the lower right abs. vomiting happily every couple of hours! great fun trying to sleep that night.

finally decided to look something up on the net symptoms wise at 4am after serious discomfort. everything pointed to appendicitis. straight into hospital and on the money.

appendix now gone, can't do jack shit for 3 weeks!

was a fluke really that i just looked up the first thing that popped in to my head. plus im a poofter and went straight to the potentially fatal sickness.

dr's just rolled their eyes at me when i said how i came to being in ED. they hate self diagnosis eh. my mates a dr but he was on call and not answering so i could have had a pros opinion.

a little annoyed i had to stay an extra night. my heart rate spiked during the surgery but as i was told this morning it was instrument failure.

@bart met a 76yo bb in the bed next to me. the guy looked 50! had all the nurses running after him.

have ballooned to 104kg after putting in some pretty good work over the last few months. just through inactivity. good thing is having to have antibiotics(which smell really yuck and therefore make me smell yuck too) with every meal has got my eating habits more regular. i have always had problems with skipping breakfast so at least i've had that from the experience.

First day of full slog. Went on a run this morning and then a bush walk with the boy afterward. Can't use the ab circle yet because the stomach is still a bit tender.

Managed to get a good deal on some weights from an old school mate - 100kgs, curl bar, barbell, dumbbells, bench and some other bits and pieces for $200. Pretty stoked as its all in mint cond.

Initially my weight went up quite sharply a fair bit on restricted exercise. But I cut it back a bit last week so am hovering around 103kg. My weight during the course of the day fluctuates considerably though.

I can lose/put as much as 4kgs in a day according to my new scales.

That is a fair swing mate!! you must do some epic shits lol!! that ad on tv about hydration with the AB's shows between 1-2kg being lost after a hard out training session. Interesting that your scales show that much variance... are you weighing yourself in the same clothes etc?

I know mate it's not normal at all. I shit you not though as recently as yesterday I woke up 105kg by the time I was in bed I was 101.8kg. Always in boxer shorts. As far as craps go I don't have any basis for comparison lol. Though I did once walk into a stall and was confronted with a log the size of my arm(oh how I wish I was joking) and Im not dropping that everyday.

It's not a consistent weight gain or loss, every now and then.

Amazing what some folk can produce! moving on!... seems hard to find/afford scales that give the same weight reading. Seems like every set you check out at Briscoes/Ware Whare/Farmers all give you diff readings, even when you tune them in a bit. Also happens at my gym. There are two scales that have 2-3 kg difference in readings. Not a huge amount, but with my gym subscription I want some supa-medical mofo scales!

I've been told you should weigh yourself in the morning in as little clothing as you are comfortable in. Weigh yourself at the same time, and in the same 'outift' each day. Consistency in measurement or something similar.

Drop into the nearest Jenny Craig - we got our scales from there when the Mrs was JC'ing. They are on the money with our trainers scales too, which is great.

Just weigh yourself on the same scales every time, at the same time of day. But daioly you are wasting your time - a weeky readin is what you need. Daily - water retention etc all play a part. Have a big fatty salty meal, and you will hold onto your water, eat a bucket of salad with no dressing, and you won't be retaining etc. SO to get real readings, you would need to be eating the same fod etc too!!!

    Hard work,instant reward!

Went for a run along the hutt river late yesterday. dropped the car at lower hutt and ran up river to taita. Its all low impact pavement running but a fair hike. Best part is the end. Took an inner tube and a pump in my pack, a little bit to lug but thats all part of it. Pumped up the inner tube jumped in the river and floated lazily back yo my car! How cool is that? Just don't fall asleep!

mapped out the run for those interested.

http://www.mapmyride.com/route/nz/lower hutt/929126801176375962

edit: as with my last mapped run it only allows me to map streets, all of my run was on the stop bank above the river. great scenery so far from a boring run.

My bro and I used to do it years ago when we trained together. When he buggered off to Ing-a-land I just stopped doing it.

Was sitting there watching the young fulla with his floaties on in the pool and it just hit me.

Will be a regular thing again for sure.
