    crazy round
Lions belted Melbourne, score hugely flattered the Dees with some junk time goals. Best i have seen the Lions tackle for years. Considered an upset, especially by the victorian focused Ch7 team (suffer in your jocks flogs).
Then Essendon, who have looked terrible, beat the Dogs, who were showing signs of life.
GWS were smacking the Saints as expected, but then won by a point
    Adelaide beat Carlton. WTF?
GC smacking the Hawks pretty much expected
Port and Freo played out a close but pretty dire game
Geelong did what is expected to north
And then fucking West Coast won.

Either lots of teams are good, or no one is. I can't quite work it out yet.

AFL Fans: That touched goal ruined our season!!! that should never happen in the modern age with all the available technology!! this is an absolut disgrace and further proof AFL House hates my club

Also AFL fans: The goal reviews are out of control and destroying the flow of the game. Why do we have so many? AFL House hates the game.

This is what you get when you listen to the whingers

I'm consistent. Across all sports. Video replay technology has done nothing for any of the games i like that it has been brought in for. And it hasn't decreased whinging, cries of conspiracy or bias, all its done is shift it from the guy on the field to the guy in the booth.
    Fuck all of it off.

Adelaide were fantastic against Carlton. You could feel the desperation, and they couldn't miss. Carlton actually played pretty well and bottled it in the last six minutes, but the Crows also came home like a freight train.

With you here. 100%. Perfection in officiating is unattainable*, and any attempt to try and move closer has been unsuccessful.

AFL is a chaotic sport that is almost impossible to officiate. The rules are greyer than grey (none moreso than holding the ball), and umpires have to watch a million things going at warp speed. I don't blame the goal umpires for being gun shy after what happened in Adelaide.

One minute Richo is saying 'if you've got the technology, use it', and the next he's asking umpires to 'just get on with the game'. They can't win.

*Unless your sport involves black-and-white, in-or-out calls like tennis and to some extent cricket.

No, neither. But I trust hotspot, snicko and side cameras to adjudicate on runouts.

    i hate footy again.

    Lol at St Kilda
    Collingwood are back
Carlton impressive in running over the Giants
Fuck Brisbane, fuck our spud talls. Fuck our inability to change styles when required. We're going to nowhere this season.
West Coast smashing Freo is hilarious. Suddenly there is hope at the Eagles
Sydney got themselves back on track, and the GC suffered a set back
And the West Coast result makes North's smashing look even worse. North might be fucked forever, because i imagine there will be compromised drafts for Tassie coming up, and North are absolute shit with no hope

Essendon and the Dogs are in the 8 at the moment, but i expect both to fall out, the other 6 ca start thinking about September.
St Kilda, West Coast, Adelaide, Richmond, Hawthorn, North Melbourne are already looking towards next year after 6 games.
The only reason Brisbane aren't joining that list is, We've played Carlton, Freo, Collingwood, Melbourne and Geelong already, we must be due the soft part of the draw. But we're only a week or two from writing everything off for the year. Terrible fucking season of terrible fucking performances.

Yeah that was pretty rank from the Lions. GWS were good but not that good.

In other news the Collingwood/Essendon game was a belter. Ended in a draw which felt like the right result.

I'd celebrate, but it's only North Melbourne.

At this stage the flag winner will come from Geelong, either of the Sydney teams, and maybe Carlton or Melbourne. No one else has the game to beat these 5 teams.
Everyone else is seriously flawed and making up the numbers

when its really a sign the draft works, sydney were 15th and 16th in 2019 and 2020....GWS 15th in 2022...so have used their draft picks well

I don't think there's the same level of negative feeling about GWS that there was in 2019.

Their bulk draft picks have come and gone (to other clubs, in many cases) and this team has ridden out a very brief down cycle and emerged better. They've recruited smartly with guys like Jesse Hogan and developed later round picks like Tom Green.

I recall before the GF in 2019 there was plenty of talk about a hollow win if they got up, but I can't imagine any of that would be replicated this year. They are seen as gritty underdogs now.
