My Te Rapa Prezzies are playing for a Trophy tonight against Suburbs. Looks like they have a couple of ring ins. Jack Lam, Christian Leali'fano. We have a proper neutral ref at least, who will also ref the final for our A team tomorrow in the Div 1 Bottom 5 Final.

At least your Pressies grade has a trophy they stopped here in Wellington too many teams cough Tawa and Para-Plim cough were stacking there teams with Prem reserves.

This is a trophy just between our 2 clubs. A trophy and points table has ben brought in the last couple of years for the whole grade.

@mikey07 always a soft spot for the hardup cup, my first year in the ones at HOBM we won that and went on to prems promotion the following year.

The cup was named after a Victoria Cross winner which in my mind is the absolute most prestigious award you can achieve in New Zealand. Please pay homage and respect to William Hardham VC as his achievements are in no way second rate and any trophy bearing his name should not be made mirth of.

The Hardham Cup ? the man behind the trophy

The Hardham Cup ? the man behind the trophy

It's often derided as something of a second-class trophy, an award for those teams not good enough to make the grade for the Jubilee Cup; but the history of the Premier 2 Hardham Cup and the man it named for is perhaps more colourful than its illustrious compatriot. The Hardham Cup memorialises...

Yeah, I had a run. Lima Sopoaga played as well. It didn't help them, we won the trophy that we play for back.

I did watch the game. Those lights aren't too flash. Some vocal Te Rapa fans on my side of the field.

@mikedogz We went the opposite for the reason stated we tried again this year but because we don’t have enough refs there’s always arguments about scores.

The last grade to finish in Counties club rugby. My home district club Onewhero drew their semi with Weymouth but got through due to scoring more tries. A couple of ex Prem grade clubs that hit hard times due to covid and are rebuilding.

In the Waikato, Division 1 winners Suburbs decided not to challenge for Premier status. Morrinsville Sports did a few extra weeks training for nothing.

The senior grade below Premier was the last grade to be sorted in Counties and my home district club Onewhero won!!! I tried to watch the last half but the Facebook stream was shit. Onewhero had to restart the senior team after struggling during Covid times. Their opposition Waiuku were almost in the same boat. Hopefully Counties decides to expand the Premier grade by one or two next year. Ardmore Marist might need a year down a grade.

I played Prezzies today against Te Kowhai and gave Dwayne Sweeney a bit of a cheeky sprig in the ruck. A bit of chat that Charlie Ngatai (Māori Jesus) might come for a run. He has retired and has settled in Hamilton and works with one of our club Sponsors. He will be playing twilight cricket with the Te Rapa boys this summer so the boys will be in his ear no doubt to have a run and there is also chat about coaching.
