I'm actually quite intrerested in this game to see if the Rebels who I feel will win the Aussie Conference are any good or not.
-
@african-monkey Rebels already got beaten handily by the Tahs 2 weeks ago.
In fairness that was in 40 degree weather so I think the Rebels will be stronger at home - and missing Ardie and Proctor will be no small matter for the Canes (e.g. Aso is not really a 13) so it should be a decent contest.
I'd sense that the Canes having come off the intensity of playing recent nz derbies should be too good in the end for the Rebels.
-
REBELS (15-1): Jack Maddocks, Tom English, Reece Hodge, Billy Meakes, Marika Koroibete, Jack Debreczeni, Will Genia, Amanaki Mafi, Angus Cottrell, Lopeti Timani, Adam Coleman (c), Matt Philip, Jermaine Ainsley, Anaru Rangi, Tetera Faulkner Reserves: Jordan Uelese, Ben Daley, Sam Talakai, Ross Haylett-Petty, Colby Fainga’a, Richard Hardwick, Michael Ruru, Sefa Naivalu

The loss of Ardie is well made up by Sam Henwood.
I didn't see that Tahs v Rebels game, but by some accounts the result was due to unexpected tactics by the Tahs that the Rebels simply weren't prepared for. Lots of kick chase on the wings and high balls. Anyone confirm?
-
@crucial What's interesting is the Rebels have decided to start without a proper 7, instead having Fainga'a off the bench.
Rebels issue will be at 10 - Debreczeni is fairly average - they've mostly gotten away with it thus far but he is up against Beaudie this week.
-
@kiwimurph Yeah a strange collapse against the Waratahs when they were in full control as well being 20-3 up. No Dane Haylett-Petty this week as well which is a massive loss but I still see the Rebels being competitive in this game before fading late on. Hurricanes by about 10 or 15.
-
Viewers of Kick and Chase on Foxtel picked Rebels by 52% to 48%.
Aussies nothing if not optimistic.
-
@crucial Their defence gave up after the Tahs got close. Rather bouncy tries in that match for both teams I reckon.
From what I have seen so far, I think the Tahs will win the Aussie conference, with Hooper, Foley, Beale and Folau they have the best players of that bunch and their supporting cast is just as average as the other teams(or maybe a bit better).
-
Crunch time. How good are the Rebels really? First Aussie - Kiwi game.
-
Rebels look legit so far.
-
Canes seem to have worked out how to break them down, they just need to keep at it. Plenty of opportunity with that short ball on the inside around the ruck.
-
Lam in the corner, but checking for touch... Looked good to me.
-
Good try! Really good attack, turnover and advantage taken.
-
TJPs support play is amazing, he's always on hand to capitalise on half breaks up the middle.
-
Bugger. That intercept non-try looked so awesome.
-
Beauden brilliant.
Very tough call on the offside to rub out the try.
-
3-8 after 12, and the Canrs have points both times they got down the Rebels end. Keep that up and they’ll be right.
Intercept, but called back.
Look at the fucking number of dummy runners they have in front of the ball. That’s a fucking joke.
-
6-8 and both teams get points with territory.
-
You could see that intercept coming.
-
Boom! Lam with the HIT!
-
The Melbourne 11 was a mile offside off BBs last cross kick.
-
WTF was Fatty Savea doing then, didn't chase the kick hard, then took an age to get back on side.
Is he just plain unfit?
-
That was so easily read.
Lam with a massive hit.
-
J Barrett needs to work on his passing. Or Savea is overrunning.
-
Another penalty, and the Rebels are in front. C'mon Canes, time to show who's boss!
-
Ref says Genia ran straight into him but still gives the extra ten...
-
Angus isn’t giving them that maul call so they should knock it off.
-
These commentators appear to have never heard of Ben Lam before. It's like he's an 18 year old.
-
Getting outplayed up front and in the kicking game right now.
-
If you told someone one of these two Canes wingers played for the ABs they would guess wrong on who.
-
Fucking hell. Was that Riccitelli with the suicidal ass?
You fucking idiot.

Yeah, if that wasn't a maul then nothing will be from a tackle situation. Just out them to ground.
-
These offsides are fucking up the Canrs and my tipping.
-
Mafi is owning the whole Canes' backrow on his own in this game. World class.
-
Let me rephrase that. He's owning the whole Cane's pack on his own.
-
Yep, he’s awesome. Who’s been going on about Evans? He’s been anonymous.

Not real smart by Beaudie to keep kicking it to him off kickoffs...
-
Riccitelli has thrown at least three shit passes. He’s a liability out there tonight.
-
Knock on for sure. Great tackle.
